Good Mexican Music
I`m getting married in Las Vegas, NV on August 31, 2002. I am originally from El Paso, TX. My family is very MEXICAN! The music is very important for our wedding. I`m trying to find a DJ that has a great library of traditional mexican music. Any ides???? Please help me and mi "familia"!

I used to DJ on a station that featured a lot of Latin music. Here are a few ideas as I can recall them:
The Gypsy Kings
Cesaria Evora
Buena Vista Social Club
The Iguanas have a Tex-Mex Flavor to them
NOT Los Lobos, contrary to popular belief and their remake of LaBamba they are not Latin music
Ottmar Liebert (Flamenco Guitar)
Do a search on some music websites that might feature "If you like this artist, you`ll like this artist" etc. Etc. There`s one I know of that`s awesome but unfortunately I can`t think of it and my source at the station doesn`t know...the programmer that uses it isn`t in until Saturday but I can send an email and hopefully someone will know what I`m talking about! Best of Luck and let me know what you find because my fiance and his family are also Mexcian! Have you considered hiring a Mariachi band to play a few tunes at your reception? His cousin had one last year and it was awesome...They just played LaBamba and Tequila too much though! Just goes to show the Americanization of cultures...

Ah-HA! I finally found it. If you are looking for a certain genre of music, whether for your wedding or otherwise, or want to know more about an artist or other bands like them, the website is allmusic.com. It`s more information than you could ever need!
