Pre-Wedding...how Do I Store My Dress?

I bought my dress and have it hanging in it`s bag in my closet. Is this what I should be doing with it? I can`t find any info on what is best for it. My wedding is in 3 weeks, should it be out of the bag breathing?

I think it should be fine as long as the closet doesnt smell musty at all. Mine is in the closet now for a July wedding so hopefully storing it doesnt damage it. If you are really concerned id take it out of the bag and fluff it up on the bed a bit every couple days or so. Good luck and enjoy your day.

Cheers

I got my gown in November for a May wedding. I didn`t really have the closest space to hang so I put it in the garment bag and layed it under a bed. I just recently took it out for a fitting and it was it was fine. Someone told me it was better to lay them than hang them for a long period. But who knows???

Make sure you have it in a breathable garment bag for storage in a well ventilated area. If you smoke in the house at all, it will smell like smoke. It can be better to lay flat rather than hang, but you can hang it without problems. Get 2, I mean 2, well padded hangers, fold a hand towel or wash cloth over the arms of the hangers to make the padded area wider to support the heaviness, otherwise it may stretch the sleeve area or leave hanger marks that can`t be removed before the wedding. Congratulations.

My daughter stored her gown for almost 10 months. We were told to put it in a WHITE garmet bag with it unzipped about 9 inches at the bottom, wrap the gown with a WHITE sheet, store away from sun and heat. My husband hung a hook very high in her closet out of the way and that worked fine. Everything was fine.

I just purchased, 1/5/05 my dress, and it is hanging on a wooden hanger, the same hanger it was on in the dress shop, and in a light/white plastic garmet bag.
