Bridesmaids` Hair & Makeup
As the bride do I have to pay for my girls` hair & makeup? I`m already buying them their jewelry and purses. The problem is I`m having someone come to my house that morning to do my hair/makeup & it`s costly (250) but I cannot afford to pay this amount for each of my girls. I told them they could have it done at my house & told them the price. And I told them I don`t care how they do their hair or makeup and there`s some great salons in town that will do their hair/makeup for $60. Am I being cheap my not paying for them? My fiance & I are paying for our entire wedding/honeymoon & really cannot afford to pay for it.

I thought that the bridesmaids knew their responsibility when they decided to be in the wedding. You give them a gift and that is all (besides covering their flowers) but they cover cost of dress, hair, makeup, nails unless you tell them that is the gift. That is what I thought.

I am getting married in 3 weeks and I told my bridesmaids that I want to leave my hair down while they (bridesmaids) all have their hair up. They all think it`s a great idea, except for one. She said that she looked best with her hair down because it hides her big face. She does not have a big face at all! I really, really want everyone`s hair up because for the sake of unity (I`m very anal about small stuff like that) but I`m just afraid to upset her if I ask her to "just do it". Am I overreacting?

The bridesmaids pay for their own hair and makeup, unless the bride elects to pay for it. However, a lot of brides do pay for it just to ensure that all the maids have exactly the hair and makeup that we want. Sometimes you get a real deal if you can guarantee a specific number of girls. My hairdresser has agreed to do my hair and makeup for free and to give the other girls a 25% discount....that`s because she`s doing both mothers, the flowergirls, and all 6 bridesmaids.

Unless you are making your girls have a certain style done by a certain person then I would say no you don`t have to pay.

It`s is your wedding. They are going to be your pictures and if you want all the girls (providing the length of their hair is not a problem) to have up dos then tell them all to have up dos. As a bridesmaid we all have had to do thing we didn`t like. Wear a color or style dress that is less the flattering but that`s part of the deal. I would tell your bridesmaid what you want!!

You don`t have to pay for anything that they want done. A few ideas for you are: hair: check local cosmetology schools. The ones near me only charge $10.00 for an updo because they are still learning but they turn out just as great!!! makeup: try locating a MaryKay consultant. A lot of them will come to your house and help with makeup application for free or some charge $5.00 a person to cover expenses. That way they are still getting some treatment too.
