I don`t know what your budget is for decorations but I have balloons, crepe paper streamers, and foil garlands which all could be used for a night-fall feeling. I also have an item you can use to make a beautiful balloon arch. You can set that up as an entrance to the prom or if you do photographs of the prom couples, it makes a wonderful setting for pictures. (we had one at my prom and the pics turn out awesome). Let me know if I can help... My website is www.partyZplus.com, you can email me at partyzplus@cox.net or call me at 760-721-1551, I`m in CA so its PST time zone.

FOR 1 OF MY PROMS WE HAD THE SAME THEME, WE HAD STARS MADE OUT OF BLACK CONSTRUCTION PAPER AND FOR $1 COUPLES COULD WRITE THERE NAMES ON THEM. THE STARS WERE DISPLAYED ON A WALL, AS PEOPLE WOULD LEAVE THEY TOOK THE STAR WITH THEM. (WE WROTE MESSAGES ON THEM AS WELL) YOU COULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT, GREAT WAY TO GET SOME EXTRA $$ TOO. WE ALSO HAD A LITTLE WADDING POOL W/ FISH IN IT GREAT IDEA IF IT CAN BE PUT SOMEWHERE COOL, BUT U COULD TRY IT W/ FLOATING CANDELS. JUST A FEW IDEAS, EMAIL ME FOR MORE.

Hey There !! Well if your theme is " Before Night Falls" there have to be stars !! Depending on what type of budget your on you can make them real cheaply or you can purchase them from wherever you can find them ! A simple way of doing it is taking cardboard, cutting out star shapes and then covering them in tin foil. You may think that it looks tacky real close but from far away they will look fine and people won`t be looking at them that closly anways !! If you could someone dangle them from the ceiling it would look incredible ! Have different shapes and sizes of stars attached to clear fishing line and hanging !!
Another idea for you would be to set up a sort of fountain !! Like my school did last year !! We rented a fountain (one that you plug in and it works) from a garden centre and got a nice stone bench and set them up in the corner of our commons area, we put a lot of white lights around it and used ivy and plastic flowers (basially just ivy and some white flowers we found at the dollar store !) and made a whole little night garden scene !! students took advantage of the cute little corner to take some amazing pictures!!
To set the mood for you theme I think a big thing is lights !! A lot of white lights strung around in various places to get the whole starry night kind of atmosphere going !! Hope any of my rambing helps you out !! Got any ideas for me ?? My theme for the prom I am running is " A Night at the Oscars !"

I am the decorating coordinator for our school`s prom. Our theme is going to be "Moonlight Garden". Using many yards of grapevine, I made a huge ball, by making two hula-hoop sized circles, and then attaching them for a 3d look. Start to intertwine the other branches. You may want to practice with a small ball at first. This ball is hollow. This will be filled with tiny Christmas lights and suspended from the center of the Gym on the ceiling. We are also hanging icicle lights, or even just plain WHITE Christmas lights. There will be four strings of lights that go from the four corners of the gym and then they will meet at the top of the "twig ball" Christmas lights are very easy to borrow because everybody has them!! We are making a fountain by putting four desks in a corner and placing a Kiddie Pool in the corner. We bought little glittery butterflies and they will be suspended with fishing wire around the "pond". For food tables, we purchased a siimple plastic, and cheap table cloth. We found some discount fabric that is tule (that vail material) that has small gold glatter on it. You could also just throw your own glitter on the table, which would probably be cheaper. The tule is placed atop of the solid color tale cloth. We also are putting deep 10 inch round bowls on the table, and placing fancy fish in them to swim around. We were lucky in finding burgendy/red outdoor carpet for a good price. The lovely red carpet that everyone dreams about. At the back of the gym, we will have 12 foot carpet rolls. Seven of them (they are 4 inches wide) will be grouped together, and there will be 4 groups. These Pillars will be covered with paper, that you can probably purchase at your local newspaper office. They will be cut to size, so that they can wrap around the pillars. Crinkle the paper, trying very hard not to rip it :) so that there are many creases. You may need to wrinkle it many times in a row. In a spritz bottle, but a tea bag, a cup of luke warm watter, and a tbsp of vanilla. When the paper is either wet or dry, (it it easiest if it is still slightly damp), mix in a bowl one part normal glue to one part water. Apply glue mix to pillars, place the paper on, and put the glue solution on top of the paper. If you use a soft sponge to apply the glue this is the best. If you can find some extra lattus, (the garden wall stuff) it looks really good on the walls, or attaching them inbetween the pillars. Candles are always a good thing.

If your ceilings are low you can use cheap tinsel and tape it up. It is very glitterly, especially if you also use a disco ball or strobe light. This is my 4th year for decorating. In fact, I am leaving now to have a meeting. Check with your local nursery. Ours lets us borrow plants, trees, globes, etc. Let me know if any of this sounds like something your interested in and I can help with some more ideas.

Night at the Prom: I am in charge of my daughters prom and they chose this theme as well. I have lots of ideas!!!! I went to our community complex and they will lend us as many red mats as we need to line up as a red carpet. We are making cardboard stars and covering them with tin foi then putting a copy of each students grad picture on them and hanging them from the ceiling. I am going to contact the local theatre and see if they have any old film and reels, we will make a center piece from the reel and twine the film around the munchies. We are also going to try to make oscars- we will cut a round styrofoam ball in half, stick a "cake" doll in it (remove her hair) then spray paint the whole thing. The students are going to think up FUN categories and EVERYONE gets one. We are also going to have a volunter parent stand at the red carpet as students come in and video tape their arrival while a comentator asks 3 simple questions... Where did you get your outfit etc.......then make a copy and give to each student.
The biggest challenge I would like to do is copy pictures of movie icons (eg. Marilyn monroe) on to clear plactic then put on an overhead projector, we will draw just the outline on large cardboard (fridge boxes paper won`t be strong enough) and then paint them black. These different sillouettes will be placed around the hall. Sounds cool hope I can pull it off and I hope I gave you some ideas too. Shelley
