Family Views On Engagement

Hi. Here`s my question. I`m going to be 19 in a couple months and my boyfriend of almost a year is going to be 20. We really want to get engaged on our one year anniversary. Even though we`ve only been going out for a year we know that we want to be together for the rest of our lives. We are not getting married until after college. But we would like to get engaged now and have a long engagement. The thing is we don`t know how our parents will react. Do you have any tips on how to tell your parents you are engaged? And any tips on how to deal with different reactions?
