Frustrated In Trying To Get Pregnant

I was on Depo for two years, I loved not having my period, but lost my sex drive completely and was extremely moody. I wanted to get pregnant so I went off of it. I`ve been off of it two years in February, my periods just barely came back and are still not normal.

They tell you these things when you sign the papers to get Depo. You really have to do your homework when it comes to any contraceptive. They all have cons to them and the only pro is that you don`t get pregnant. You will get pregnant, it will just take some time. You also have to stop stressing about it and relax. It will happen when it is time, not just because you want it to happen right now.

After two years of trying, I really don`t think the problem is stress and relaxing never got anyone pregnant. I really think your hormones are still out of whack. You really should go back to your gyn doctor and ask for an endocrine workup, if the blood work does show that your hormones are the problem, ask for referrral to an endocrinologist. You have deal with as the medical issue that it is.

Thank you for all 3 responses I will take all the advise, I`m scheduling to see a fertility specialist this week. From everything I`ve read on this website, I do feel a lot more educated and have a new hope that it will just be a matter of time, and if not then maybe adoption. I did research and listen to the cautions before going on depo, but my friend had gotten pregnant 6 months after going off of it so, I didn`t take it to seriously and am regretting that now! Thanks again..........

I tried the depo shot. I only took the first shot and didn`t ever go back for another one because my horomones were so out of whack and I gained a lot of weight. I took that shot in Feb. And didn`t ever have another period until the next jan. Even though I had only had the first shot. That`s how messed up the shot had my body. Its been 7 months now since I got my period back and I still can`t get pregnant. I won`t ever take that type of birth control again.

Just a few things on Depo and fertility:
Depo is a hormone that stays in the body anywhere from 3 months to 6 months so you can`t consider yourself to "be off" depo from the time of your last shot, but 3-6 months after your last shot.

The average person can take 6-18 months to conceive under any circumstances, this does not mean they are infertile

Stress can decrease fertility because the hormones released during stressful periods can actually inhibit the maturation and release of eggs from the ovaries.

One cannot compare their fertility to their friends, you have different bodies and naturally they will react differently to different stimuli.

Depo can decrease fertility because it does trick the body into believing it is pregnant so you won`t release any eggs. It will take some time before your ovaries realize that they need to start maturing eggs again, give it time.

If you are extremely concerned, there is no shame in discussing your concerns with your doctor. If you can`t afford one, most communities have planned parenthood clinics where you can get advice from a nurse.

If you are having extreme difficulty conceiving, don`t assume the problem is with you, men can be infertile too. Have this looked into.

Remember to not put so much pressure on conceiving. The stress isn`t good for fertility or your well-being. It will happen, just enjoy the trying. I hope that this helps some of you.
