Having Trouble Getting My Maggie Gown

I ordered a size 12 white Maggie Sottero Dulce Vita A-Line dress from an authorized dealer on June 15, 2004. I was told that it would take 4-6 months. I called in November and was told that it hadn`t arrived yet. Called in December and the shop said that she would call the manufacturer. She called back and told us that they were doing inventory and it will come after the new year. I called early last week and she said that it hadn`t come in and she would investigate. She called back and told us the dress was shipped to another store and either returned to the manufacturer and sold or lost. I would have it no later than end of February. I wanted the dress ASAP so I emailed Dear Maggie on the Maggie Sottero website and asked them to expedite the order. They said that they would investigate and get back to us and asked for the color and size of the dress. I replied with the info and then the next day they spoke to the bridal shop and said that I should call them for more information. The bridal shop said the same story as before but said that now the dress wouldn`t be in until March 30th (because the factory was closed for 3 weeks for chinese new year) and the manufacturer would not help even though it was their fault. We were offered a $100 discount, free veil, and alterations. This leads us to suspect that the bridal shop is at fault, but the owner sounded so sincere and distressed. I don`t know what to think.
My mom did an internet search and got the phone number to the american division and has been talking to a woman in their customer service dept. The customer service lady wasn`t helpful and would not release any information except to say the order was placed, and would not guarantee that the dress would be in by March 30th. I am concerned that I won`t have the dress in time for the wedding. What now?

I say look on ebay. You might be able to find this style in your size for a discount price

If the shop cannot garantee your shipment then ask for a refund or your deposit back

I can`t believe the shop wasn`t more helpful, tell them that you want your money back and you will be taking your business to another store and reporting them to the Better Business and your local Dept. Of Justice. They are completely at fault and with a Maggie you are suppose to be given a delivery date, if they messed that up then they should fix it. They can pay to have it a rush order so don`t take this, you have local resources even a local paper if you have to.

Dont blame the shop so fast. I have been there with Maggie Sottero! Even thought Maggie has the hottest gowns and has won many qawards for their designs, their customer service is the worst. We drop this line from our shop - evne though it was one of our top 3 lines. Just about every gown order was late - from 2-3 weeks and up to 10 weeks late. The would tell us the gown would ship 12 weeks from thte time we placed the order but the earliest we every received a gown from them was 16 weeks and the latest was 30 weeks from!!
So keep in contact with the shop but I would stay on Maggie Sottero case!! They are the ones not fulling their contract with the shop - just as they did with us. And since we dont sell them anymore, I job has been so much better with all the other designers who well sell and ship our orders on time!
We wish you luck and hope you get your gown soon!

Hi, I also ordered a Maggie through a bridal shop and it was also late, although not as late as yours. Mine arrived a month late.
Also, when I ordered my dress in a size 12 the shop called me a few weeks after because Maggie had told them the specific dress I wanted in a size 12 was on back order in the US, I went with a size 10 and it fit perfectly.
I guess what I`m trying to say is that I agree with "Real Vendor" it may be more the comany`s fault than the bridal shop.

If you need a dress at the last minute I have Maggie`s Seattle Marie, Size 10, Ivory. Let me know if you want more info and pictures.

Hi, I used to own a bridal shop that dealt with Maggie. I am now out of the business and a big reason for it was because I got tired of dealing with the companies. They tell the stores information like shipping dates, etc and when they don`t fulfill their end the only one that looks bad is the bridal shop. I can`t tell you how many times a company made me look like I was lying to the customer when I was only passing on the information the company gave me. One thing you might want to do is get the shop you are dealing with get Maggie to fax them an order confirmation with a ship date stated on it. This way you have proof that the store is doing what they say they are doing and you also have some recourse if don`t get the dress by the date stated. I will tell you though, in 15 years of doing business I only had one time that a company did not deliver and being a store owner it was, in my personal opinion, my responsibility to take care of it and to this day the customer has no idea what happened.
