Opinion Sought

I`m a 48 year old 7-year widow with 2 adult children (21-24 years of age). My fiance is 37, never been married and has no children. We are both Catholic and would like to be married in the Church. I was thinking of wearing ivory instead of white, and I would like my son and father to give me away and my daughter as Maid of Honor. Would this be appropriate?

I don`t see why not, I think it would be very sweet to have your son and father give you away and your daughter as maid of honor. Have you talked with your children about this and are they ok with it? I would also ask your catholic priest about it as well. They might have some restrictions.

I would first check with the priest, then run with your ideas, after all it`s your wedding. My future sister in law is planning on getting married and her situation is just like your with the exception that they aren`t Catholic. She is going to wear white and she`ll be having her 14 year old son give her away. I like your ideas.

The fact that you are a widow, you will have no prolem with the chruch as long as you have all the paper work (death certificate, baptism, etc..) ready and available, I can already tell you will be having a nice family wedding.. Have fun and best wishes.
