Deceased Grandparents
I am looking for a poem to honor my deceased grandparents to be read during my wedding ceremony. Thank you all in advance for any suggestions.

Maybe it`s just me; but, that sounds a little morbid, it sounds like a real downer. You could honor your grandparents in an uplifting way, a manner that would sadden people. You could dance to their favorite song or to the song that they used for their first dance. Your bouquet could incorporate their favorite flowers and/or colors. You could have their wedding picure printed on the cover of your wedding program. My own dad passed away three years ago and I want to include him in a meaningful way too. He was from Georgia and he loved the song "Georgia on my mind". We are going to dance to that song, the people who matter the most will certainly understand the significance.

Hi.. I don`t know of any readings or anything.. But I just wanted to let you know.. My friend got married last year & her mother had died the year before.. So they had her mothers photo framed & up front on one side & his deceased grandfather`s pic on the other side.. With flowers.. Then just a quick note in the program stating something about them being here in spirit! and what not.. Just an idea! good luck!

Why not light a candle for each of them and let them burn throughout the ceremony and the dinner? You can mention at the reception the significance of the flames.

My sister had a candle and the lady had a picture of our father built into the wax with a gold cross. They did this as a memorial and a poem was read, the praise & worship dancers did a beautiful dance and it was not morbid. Morbid is digging up the coffin to put in front of the church with the body in it at the wedding. Goody girl, I really think you should stick with what the person is asking, she didn`t ask for your opinion on it, she asked for a poem.
God saw they were their happiest and
Someone would not let that be.
So He put his arms around them and whispered
"Come with Me".
With tear filled eyes we watched them,
Suffer and fade away. Although we
Loved them deeply, We could not
Make them stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Jane thank you so much. That poem is right on target. I really truly appreciate it. May God Bless You. Karrie thank you also for your advise. I truly appreciate the help of ways to recognize and take my grandparents with me on this significant day in my life. God Bless
