Fall Favors
Hi. I`ve been coming up with a few ideas for favors for my outdoor fall wedding, and I think I`ve narrowed it down to two. In the Winter 2005 InStyle Weddings magazine (in case any of you like this idea or have the magazine) it suggests giving out baby trees. You can get the trees from the National Arbor Day foundation, and I`ve also found a couple other websites online that sell baby trees. I was thinking this would be a really cute favor. You can put a little sign by the stack of trees that says "plant a tree for love" or maybe a cute poem or something. I really love the outdoors, and would love people to plant trees in honor of my marriage. The only problem with this idea is that I`m not sure how many people would actually plant the trees. I`m afraid some people would just throw them away. I`m also not sure what kind of trees I would get, since I will have people attending my wedding from all over the country. Right now I`m toying with either Red Maples (since the colors of a red maple are similar to my wedding colors and are really gorgeous) or some kind of evergreen. I need to do some more research first to see which trees will grow where. The trees come in little tubes, about a foot long. I would wrap the tubes in some kind of fabric and tie the ends with ribbon.
The other idea I came up with was little jars of preserves. At first I was thinking about making my own, but if I can find good deals online then I`ll probably just buy them. It would save me a lot of time (especially since I`m planning this while in college). I would buy some fabric that matches my wedding colors (typical fall colors, reds, oranges, yellows...) and then tie the fabric around the lid with some ribbbon and attach a note to the ribbon.
I wanted to post these ideas on here and see which one you guys think I should do. Pretend you`re attending a fall wedding. Would you rather get trees or jam? If any of you have any other suggestions for favors, I`d like to hear those as well. Thanks in advance for everyone`s help!

Hi Lindsay - I would say Jams. Sounds like a pretty idea. I am working on favors (Votive holders) done in all fall leaves that are very pretty. If you would like me to send you a picture I would be happy to you can email me CMBCrafts2004@aol.com

Dear Lindsay - I had to post to you as I was out picking up supplies today and I found the most awesome little jars that could be painted in fall leaves to match your "theme" and they are little Jam jars and they even have a little wooden spoon that sits on the side of the jar...EMAIL me and I can send you a picture, I thought they would be cute with Jam or Maple Syrup?

Hi Lindsay,
I love your creative ideas for fall wedding favors! I actually sell baby trees on my website - www.daisy-days.cceasy.com - they are blue spruce trees. They come in a baby-themed box, but if you were interested, we could find some cute wedding boxes to put them in. Just type in "seeds" in the search box on the website.
Another favor idea that would go well with your fall theme is maple-leaf shaped cookie cutters. They come with a personalized card that has your names and wedding date printed on it in raised, colored ink and inside is a sugar cookie recipe. A very practical gift that your guests would love. Again, this favor is available at www.daisy-days.cceasy.com or from my eBay store - http://stores.ebay.com/Daisy-Days-Wedding-Invitations
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at info@daisy-days.com. Thank you!

I like the idea that Connie has about your jam with the wooden spoon on it. That sounds like a very nice favor. She is doing my cousin`s favors for her daughter`s Sweet 16 and my cousin has been showing off her samples to the family members that will be there. The reactions were great. You will love them.

Thank-you all for your responses and opinions. My wedding is not for a long long time still, so I won`t be buying the favors for a while yet. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind when I finally do purchase materials though. I love both suggestions about the jars with spoons and the cookie cutters. It will be a tough choice! Thanks again.
