Restaurant Party

I am inviting family and friends to help celebrate my husbands 60th birthday at a restaurant. I would like to buy the wine and drinks and have everyone pay for their own dinner. I this appropriate? If so, how do I word the invitation

I think this is appropriate. All you must do is politely put on the invitations, "Wine and drinks will be taken care of." I don`t think people would mind.

Twenty friends and relatives showed up and had no problem paying for their own dinners. I paid for all the wine and at the last minute I added appetizers! And the surprise was a success! Thanks for your help.
