My fiance and I are also having a court house wedding - but I have a reception of approximately 500 people that evening so I had similar problems with what to wear. I bought a discontinued wedding dress that was very plain with minimal beading. It looks elegant yet not overdone for the wedding. You could do a similar style - cream or off white are becoming more popular also. I don`t know where you are from but I found a place called C.S. Bridal in Michigan that had racks of discontinued dresses. They are all lovely but more affordable because they cannot reorder them. Try to look for these kinds of bargains. One wedding shop even suggested that I choose a bridesmaid`s dress that I liked that came in white or ivory. Bridesmaid`s dresses are not as fancy but they are still very elegant.
