Storing Your Wedding Gown
I ordered my dress at David`s Bridal in November and it came in just this past week. They called me and said I had to come get it because they didn`t have room to store it until October, which is when my wedding is. I feel really uncomfortable storing it at home. Does anyone know if there is something special I need to do to the dress to insure that it is not going to yellow? They told me to just put it in the garmet bag that it came with and unzip about 8 inches or so. On the internet I have found that you are not to store in plastic which is what the garmet bag is. I also read that you can wrap in a 100% cotton sheet. Does that work? Please let me know, I want everything to be perfect.

Robyn, Im in the same situation as you are. I got my gown in May of last year. I am not getting married until September of this year. The lady at the bridal store told me to keep it inside a white bridal bag and zip it up all the way and keep it in a dark closet. She also said I could wrap it in a white or light blue sheet. Pretty much, do what you can to keep the dust and light away from the dress. So far, my dress has been fine. Good luck!

I bought my gown at Davids in July of `03 and stored it at my mother`s house untill my September `04 wedding. I wrapped it completely in a new all white cotton sheet (i didn`t wash it first) and stored it in the garment bag for over a year with it unzipped a few inches to allow air to circulate. I was worried that it would become yellowed due to humidity in the summer, but when I took it out, it was perfect!
