WHAT IS GOING ON? REAL VENDOR WANTS TO KNOW

This is really upsetting as a vendor seing brides get scammed! Was she a vendor on here? you see I keep posting here and I am a real vendor who paid to reach brides, but I can`t actually reach anyone here. It seems that the scammer have better ways of doing it and it is sad. I wonder what they say to attract brides to go to them instead of a real vendor? I have an actual shop, a website, valid phone #, valid email, valid fax#, I paid to be a vendor, and I offer great deals, but no one has ever come to me from here. I guess all the scammers scared all the brides away. And that is so sad because I really would love to help a bride and they will really get the gowns they want. Also, I have had a few brides that asked me to copy the gowns, I am a designer and definitely I can copy it, but at the same time I don`t and I am honest when I know I can`t do it, and I tell them directly because I want them to have the gown of their dreams, this is their big day and I don`t want to ruin it for them. I thought that being honest would make some people happy, but they even get mad at me sometimes. So I don`t understand! and what are these scammers saying and doing on here stealing our customers. I see a lot of non paying vendor posting selling their gowns, and people that area paying not getting anything. Can someone tell me what is going on?

K Seeto,

Others are offering low, low prices to desperate brides and tell them anything they think the bride wants to hear. The fact they accept credit cards is not indicative they are honest, valid or anything else. Now, look at all the charge-backs brides have to do. I got my gown from a vendor who doesn`t even accept credit cards at all. To a lot of people, that alone makes them feel the business isn`t legitimate. The owner said 4 cards were used that were reported stolen, so she would not accept them anymore. Her online store was under investigation due to stolen credit cards she had nothing to do with. Checks or money orders only. I paid by money order and I got my dream gown within two weeks by priority mail. I was sent a contract to sign. I kept the original and sent a copy back. Most important, I asked for references. I contacted other brides via email and phone. All of them gave me positive information about the vendor I chose, and she is an online vendor. She said lots of potential customers shy away because she won`t accept credit cards, but she still won`t accept them. I was happy and to the best of my knowledge, this vendor has never had a complaint. I have never seen her advertise here, so won`t name the place. Do your homework before ordering anywhere, on line or in person. That`s all you need to do. The best information you can get is not from the owner, but from previous customers. Many brides wouldn`t have gone through never getting gowns if they`d just asked for references. Don`t just go by the vendors` words. After all, they are salespeople trying to make money.

Thank you Janice! these are good advice but I am actually a vendor and not a bride. But a lot of your answers kinda gave me an idea, for example references from my previous brides are good to give to my customers to share their good experiences with me.

K Seeto,
I was scammed once by posting on this site, and I think the way that they (scammers) lure us in is by promising the exact designer gown that we are looking for at a really low price. Most of us know nothing about the vendor side of the business, and we do not know how low a vendor can realistically drop their price on a gown and still make a profit. So, we just go with the lowest price offered. The other thing is that a lot of us are looking for a particular gown and refuse to settle for anything else so we set our hopes and dreams in the hands of people who know how to take advantage of that vulnerability. I`ve visited your site before, and my suggestion is that if you are able to obtain and sell designer dresses advertise those first before custom originals. Most of us want what we see in magazines. Best of luck!!

Pamela,

My dress was only $450.00 plus shipping, so I decided I would take the chance with this vendor. I didn`t want to max out my credit card anyway. I only called or emailed two references they gave me and the BBB. The BBB said they had no info. They said companies are not required to register, but no info basically means there are no complaints. But if there is a complaint filed, a case is opened against the company even if they never registered with the BBB. So after that checked out, I asked for previous brides to correspond with. They gave me 3 references. I chose two that were literally from different sides of the U.S., and both had spent more on their gowns than I did. I figured if they got theirs, I`d get mine. I asked about a replica of a high end gown and they said they do not deal with replica gowns. So I decided on my second choice gown, which was less expensive and stopped stressing about the more expensive gown. After I got my gown, i decided to get my gloves, tiara and veil from them too, and everything came by priority mail as the contract stated. I emailed thanking them and asked the owner about partypop. They said they will look into partypop advertising this year. There is no brick store, only online. I recommend them to every new bride to be and never hesitate to say where I got my wedding apparel. My wedding isn`t until May and now I can focus on othe rplanning. Good luck to all the brides who have been scammed adn to the innocent businesses also who suffer when the word gets out about one bad vendor.
