Trisha`s Formals- Update...
I just talked to Patty on the phone...she finally spilled everything to me...I just wonder what took her so long... She told me that when customers pay via credit cards, the money goes to some sort of company..(maybe someone can explain this better than I can??)...and because she has had some complaints, the company is keepng the money to make sure that she will deliver the merchandice that she has promised her clients. Unfortunately, she told me that she needs some of that money to get the dresses ordered in the first place...because the money is all tied up, she can not even order some of the dresses. She told me that she has been telling everyone to just file with their credit card companies and have them refund you your money. So, that would be my advice to anyone having problems. I also found out some other interesting things... She has been telling everyone that her shop was in Maiden, NC.. But it was not...she gave me the tracking # for my dresses & it says they got shipped to her shop & the address was Hickory, NC. Also, I was looking back on some of the e-bay items she sold...and at the end of November she sold her entire store stock. I read the auction listing and it says that "We are selling our entire store stock, because the owner is very ill"... She has told me that her husband is sick, but he does not own her shop...she does... I kinda asked her about it & she finally admitted that she was the one who was sick, but she would not tell me what she was sick with....I told her she needs to get on here & explain all of this to everyone & she told me she is never going to get on here again...I don`t know why...but I feel she should at least appologize to her customers... Anyways, I just thought I`d let you all know what little I knew..I`ll keep you posted & send pics of my dresses when they arrive next week.

Thank you Kimmy!
I wrote an email to Patty and she answered the next day. She explained the same situation to me and I already filed my creditcard holder dispute and it seems I will get my money back, but I have to wait 3 days. I still have the problem of finding a dress I am getting married on March and all the other stores say they can deliver my dress mi april and rush orders cost $185 or more.... So I have no choice... I will have to buy a different model that they have on stock... This means my dream dress, the one I WANT and I CAN`T have because of Patty. I feel sorry for her, I hope she gets better and wish her the best, but she ruined everything for me.

I think YOU are Patty.. Funny how she`ll "talk" to you when no one else can reach her.
Oh, by the way...you don`t need money up front to order dresses unless you have outstanding bills from the company you are trying to order from. Only then do they hold your dresses" "hostage" OR they ship you C.O.D. And add your past due invoices to your delivery.

Nina,
I agree with you. I think it is very fishy that one person, and one person only, can communicate with the elusive Patty. Come on, we were not born yesterday on these boards. Patty, just come clean. People respect honesty, even when it has ruined things for them. Refusing to speak with people who`ve paid money is just plain wrong. The only time a company where the dresses come from will "hold" funds or refuse to place more orders is when the person/company ordering has a balance they did not pay. I believe that`s what happened here. I think Patty owes the people she gets dresses from. With most businesses, they do make something off of your order, that`s what keeps them in business. They`re supposed to send the balance off to get the merchandies. I suspect Patty pocketed the entire amount instead of just the percentage due to her, and the company where she gets the dresses from will not order more for her until she pays her outstanding bills. That`s the real problem, or if not, that`s not too far from the real problem. The thing all vendors on here can learn is to stop making promises to brides just to get a sale, particularly if you know when you make the promise that you aren`t really sure you can deliver. Vendors who do this put themselves under undue stress because they know someone paid them, and then their mouths are writing checks their a$$e$ can`t cash. Only promise to deliver on gowns you know you can get, and when you get paid, take what`s yours and order the dress with the rest. That`s the way it`s supposed to work in this industry. If things didn`t work out for you Patty, don`t lie to your customers and make it worse. Instead, you could send out a letter to all of your clients, with a way to contact you, explaining what happened and encourage them to dispute with their credit card company. People will respect you a whole lot more if you go this route than if you just plain ignore them.

First of all Debbie & Nina..I am NOT Patty, but at times I wish I was. I would die to have a wedding shop of my own & at one time I looked to Patty as kind of an idol. When I first met her, she baught some dreses from me off of e-bay. She told me this story about how she was not in it for the money, she said she was in it to help bries who don`t have a lot of money, get the dresses that they really want at a fraction of the cost. Now I don`t know what to believe.
Yes she does talk to me, on occasion... I was mad yesterday, because by dresses are already 5 weeks late...I tried to e-mail her & it was sending the messages back to me, so I kind of felt ignored. So, I called her house. I did not want to do this, because she has small kids & they don`t need to see their mom fighting with customers on the phone....but I fet that was the only way to figure out what was going on. At first she did not answer the phone, but after I started leaving a message she picked it up & gave me 101 stories.
I still respect Patty & she is still my friend...but she was acting very suspicious on the phone. I told her I just wanted her to tell me the truth & all she told me about was how the credit card people have all her money. As a friend, I wanted to believe her....but her stories are so fishy. So, now I don`t know what to think. I guess my dresses are finally at her house today & she is going to send them. I am strting to get a little scared though, by all the stories you have told me. I just want to get my dresses here & not have to worry anymore.
Maybe I am an idiot for still having a tiny bit of faith in Patty...but we will see how I feel when/if I get my dresses.

But this makes no sense. I ordered my dress with Patty back in October. She should have already made the order to the manufacturer! I contacted Maggie Sottero and they had no record of Trisha`s Formals and no record of my order. I think this is all smoke and mirrors. Even if she is sick, or whoever, I paid her back in October, she should have the money. It doesn`t take any effort at all to ship a dress to someone who you have already ordered for. But the truth is Patty DIDN`T place my order with Maggie Sottero. I don`t know what bassakwards business she was running, but I count my blessings I got my money back from my credit card company already! I don`t believe any of this crap about illness, how freaking hard is it to complete your orders?Or have the decency to pass the buck on to someone who could? Or even email your customers back and tell them what to do? Patty is hiding because she has a reason to hide, she is guilting of ripping us all off! I believe Patty took our money and ran.

Sorry I would have to agree that Patty`s story is fishy all the way. She gets paid through Paypal and anyone that has a Paypal account knows that there is no company between you and your money. Just Paypal and they only step in when you do not deliver your merchandise not because you have complaints.
I would also like to add that Patty was not an authorized Maggie Sottero vendor. She got her dresses from a manufacturer overseas. She was acting more of like a middle man. The manufacturer give her a price for the dress and then she marked the price up and whola your price for your dress. In order to place the order for the dress she would have to wire to the overseas manufacture his price for the dress (which was typically less then 50% of the cost she was charging for the dress). So yes she had to have the money upfront unless she had a special arrangement with this overseas manufacturer which I highly doubt. So there is no way she could have fallen behind, she just started pocketing the money and not placing the orders.
I almost used her and she explained her whole process to me. Not the part about marking up the price by more then 50% (I figured that out later) but everything else.

Thank you to all of those who have made postings RE:
Tricia`s Formals (and threads Re: WARNING - Trisha`s Formals/Bridal). I too, am in the market for a dress that I cannot afford. I did NOT have any dealings with Tricia`s Formals except for a reply to an enquiry about a dress. Her response was prompt (as are from people who want $$).
I am writing this note to let those of you know that a person can be nice, friendly, charming, helpful, intellegent, etc/ while still putting a knife in your back.
In the past, I was con`d out of 18K (and others were con`d for more). I have heard many-many-MANY excuses. The person that did this seemed very nice. She was even (I thought) a "friend".
So, I don`t know about Tricia`s Formals...maybe she just got in over her head-although it is unethical to use money when you ABSOLUTELY know that you need to aquire money from others in order to fulfil your current obligations,... And still cannot meet those new contracts.
There has got to be a point where you just STOP and explain; return $$ to those that gave it to you. Robbing Peter to pay Paul usually has a bad ending.
Just my thoughts. Thanks again for everyones postings...both good and bad.

I was just wondering, you said that Patty told you that she wasn`t ever going to get back on here... So does that mean she will never check her e-mails and mail my refund? :(... I can`t afford this.

I don`t know. I asked her why when I sent her e-mails they were coming back to me telling me that her e-mail account had been closed. She told her account was not closed....maybe she just had an e-mail in box that was full of e-mail complaints & there were so many e-mails that her box was full & that is why it was sending e-mails back to me?! I don`t know. Did you pay for your dress via credit card or check or what?? If you used a credit card you can get your money back by going through your card company & forgetting about Patty. I prey you get your money back!!! :)

Hi Kimmy,
Thanks for the update. Has she mentioned anything to you about my situation (dress in wrong fabric)? Unfortunately getting my money back through my credit card co is not as easy since I did technically receive something. However, she was supposed to also give me a veil and it seems that she`s cut off all business with me.
When I paid Patty the 2nd half of my dress she asked me to do it through Paypal because the Yahoo store thing was holding her money...here`s her exact words:
"I am having problems with the merchant company I use, they are not releasing funds to my account when people pay. Right now they have over $5000 they have held for a month now."
So maybe there is some truth to her story, but I still don`t think that`s an excuse to treat customers the way she has.
Kimmy, I do hope you receive your dresses and they are as they were supposed to be. You have been a good friend to Patty on these boards and she at least owes you that. Any ideas for a way to remedy my situation are appreciated!!

Betsy,
Actually I was chatting with my bridesmaids on Yahoo last night & Patty came on & she messaged me... Apparently they kinda messed up my dress. She said it still looks very beautiful, but they did not do the emboridery the way I had asked them to. My dress was suppose to have big fuchsia colored roses that were 2 toned...fuchsia/baby pink. There there were suppose to be accent flowers that were navy blue/baby blue. Then there were vines that connected all the flowers & they were forest green/sage. The whole idea of the dress is sort of a two-toned flower garden. That is the theme we are going for, for our wedding. The only thing Patty told me about my dress is that they made the flowers strictly fuchsia & instead of using blue, they used purple. Also, I was suppose to have a corset back & they made it a regular zip up back. So, I am a little bit dissapointed about that. Patty said that sometimes her company that makes the dresses seems to think that they are "professionals" & know more than us `dumb brides` so, they make changes that they think will make the dresses look more attractive. Patty said that for the most part, the dresses still do look very beautiful with their changes, but that is besides the point. There is a reason we want a dress replicated, because we like the exact look of the dress. We should technically be getting what we ordered or I feel that somewhere there is a breech of contract. My finace` says if we don`t like the changes that they have made we are going beyond Patty (as she is the middle man) and are going directly to the manufacuters so, we can figure out why it was changed.
On the other hand, I may like their changes & I might keep it that way. I will let you know tommorrow when I finally recieve the dresses. (mind you I have been waiting almost 11 weeks for my dresses, when Patty promised them in 4 weeks).
As far as your dress Betsy....Patty has showed me photos of it & I think it is very lovely. If I were you I`d either keep it, or I`d try to sell it on e-bay or some other dress site. I think some gal who doesn`t have too much money would look very lovely in that dress & would die to have it.
Let me know your e-mail address & I will send you pics of my dresses. :)

Kimmy, I don`t understand this. I got curious today and decided to take a look at the message board. Until you told me that one day about the bad messages I did not know about them. I only was not going on the board because I did not feel the need to be there. I cannot do business anymore so why scout for customers. As for your dress, yes I told you that they did not do the corset and you said that was ok. The gown I did not specify on the flowers really. I told you they were fuscia, but they do have the pink in them. I had already folded the dress so I did not really want to go into deep detail about it, I would have to unfold it and I did not want to chance getting it dirty. Anyway, it does have the green vines and it does have lavander flowers, so does the original. I am not sure about the blue I don`t remember. I don`t see a "breech of contract" and I never said anything about "dumbbrides". To all of you who think Kimmy is me, she isn`t. She has been great and I know that she has been scared to death due to all of this. I never had intentions of screwing anyone. Ever. The merchant company I dealt with did hold and still is holding the funds. They kept telling me they would release them. I had ordered some gowns through a gown broker for the Maggie gowns and then I was waiting on the other money to be released. They would tell me in a week, then two weeks then a month. I have been screwed by them and in the process have messed up a lot of you. I never meant for this to happen. I do not want your money nor have it. Please Please charge your cards back. They merchant company has the money they will have to get it back to you. As for my emails. I have not received emails from anyone but Kimmy and Betsy. Why? I don`t know. My mailbox could have been full, but I did check and I have still received junk mail but no emails from customers. Oh, no I did get email from Linna, who I gave back her money today in cash as she paid me. You ladies can think what you want of me. I can`t change that. You can tell how fishy my story is. That is fine also. There is not fishiness to this. I worked hard to be nice and respond and try to build a business. Unfortunately I was put out of business and when I talked to my merchant company I told them if they did not release the funds it was going to bankrupt me. That I could not order the gowns without it. They simply said it was not their problem. Believe what you will. You will anyway. You wanted an explaination, so here is it. I think a wedding and marriage is a wonderful thing, that is why I got into this. The love I have for my husband I hope everyone finds in their lives. The business I chose and the company I decided to do business with apparently was bad choices and it has affected many. As for Maggie, I was told by Scott (the rep for my area) that I could go ahead and tell that I was selling Maggie gowns and take the orders. I contacted them several times when I did not get my welcome package. I received no response. It is sad, all things were in my favor, but then they all fell apart. I wish you all luck and do recommend that you do charge backs on your cards. I can tell you that Stephanie your dress is due in 2-13, you did not let it come in before getting your money back. It was ordered and will come in, please email me and I will send you who will have it. I have a confirmation on it, Last name Remenak your gown will also come in I have confirmation on that, it is also due in 2-13-05, and Last name Boenker your is also due in 2-13-05. These are the only ones that I received confirmation on. If you like you can email me about them at trishasbridal@charter.net. Stephanie, you I guess will get your money and a dress. This will come up to me in a letter from the merchant company and it will be disputed. Only becuase you do have a dress coming.

Patty,
I`m sorry but cancel the order. I emailed you three times at trishasbridal@charter.net, the same email we had corresponded with before with no problems, and I heard nothing from the first two emails, and the third was kicked back due to full inbox. You`re telling me you have only heard from Betsy and Kimmy? I guess Betsy and Kimmy by themselves filled up your inbox? I left you three messages on your cell phone, the last one clearly stating that if I didn`t hear from you by the end of the week, I would be canceling my order, disputing the charges with my credit card, and moving on. I never heard from you, EVER! You closed your business without contacting your customers, what did you expect me to think? To fly on your good word and the fact that I had lost any means of contact with you? By 2/13 I was SOL if that dress didn`t show, and had no means of verifying it had been ordered other than your good word. I got your cell off this board, as your business line was disconnected. I wanted to believe you, I contacted maggie sottero to see if they had a record of my order and you, and they didn`t, and Maggie recommended me order my dress from a prefered maggie vendor, which is what I did. If you recieve the gown you placed for me, then you can sell it on ebay, because I wash my hands of this whole situation. I am sorry you are going through a tough time, but the way you have handled this whole situation has been completely unethical. You wanted to play business owner with the big kids and that involves contacting your customers and re-assuring them when things go wrong. A simple 3 minute phone call and verification from Maggie that the dress had been ordered would have resolved this entire situation, but you seemed unwilling to take even this miniscule amount of effort on my behalf. Our business relationship is finished with this, the cancellation of my order.

FYI to all Brides to be
Only buy your gown from an authorized retailer - either online or in a store. Only authorized retailers can sell you the gown. It is obvious that Patty is NOT an authorized retailer for Maggie. She stated a that "her broker" - right there lies the problem. First of all Maggie PROHIBITS retailers selling their gowns on line or below the MSRP!! And when you deal with a seller who uses a "broker" problems like this happen.
No bride should have to go through this on what is suppose to be the happiest day of her life so if you do not want to get scammed or ruined your day, do your homework. Many on-line sellers have full service stores that offer the gowns on-line at discount prices but just make sure that they are a REAL buiness. Check with the BBB, check with the deisgner to see if they are authorized to sell their gowns, get phone numbers and USE a major credit card for protection. There are many good vendors here who like what they do and do it honestly. But you the buyer have to protect yourselves since you are not doing the sale in person. I hope the brides who got scammed by this Patty receive their gowns of their dreams and there are many vendors here to help you.
As far as Partypop goes, I feel the owners of this site better do a better job of checking out vendors before they are allowed to use this site a source to scam any more brides out of their hard earned money and their dreams.
Good luck to all you brides and best wishes!!

Kimmy,
I`m sorry to hear that your gowns are not as expected. I hope you didn`t pay the 2nd half of your deposit b/c you could end up in the same situation as me if you don`t like them. My email is bdcarte@comcast.net
The gown that Patty sent me is beautiful, I will admit that, and the embroidery is very close to the original. However, the fabric changes the look of the dress. I wanted something very simple and elegant, not flashy at all. The dress in the fabric she sent me is shiny and flashier than what I wanted (and isn`t figure flattering). The whole reason I went with her was because she was the only person who said she could do the silk ziboline. If she would have told me otherwise I would have never had her make it. I believe that whether the dress is beautiful or not, she owes me a refund because she contracted to do the dress in a fabric that she simply could not do. Now I`m out $900 and have to buy another dress that will make me feel beautiful on my wedding day.
Patty, can you provide an explanation to everyone as to why you will not refund my money when my gown is wrong?
