Babysitting Cost
Was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the going rate for babysitting is these days. My 14 yr old daughter has been asked to babysit and she doesn`t know how much to ask. Any information on this would help. Thanks in advance!

I used to charge $5 per child. That was 6 years ago though. I would have her ask for at least that. Can she ask friends at school what they charge? I am haivng babysitters for my wedding and I am paying them $10 per hour, but they do this professionally at a gym, so that is why I am paying more. She could always ask what the parents feel is fare, then you can decide if you approve of the amount they told her.

I am a babysitter but i never know how much to charge i usaually charge $2 an hour but my mom told me that that is way to cheep so can you please tell me how much i should charge because i really need to know.

There is a 13 yr old girl in our neighborhood that is Red Cross Certified (first aid and cpr) and watches kids for $3 and hour. She did such a great job with our son that we gave her $5 and hour (but that`s also because she doesn`t sit for us that often). I also pick up a bit of babysitting now and then, and I often charge anywhere between $5-$10 and hour... Depending on the ages of the kids, the number of kids, and the hours I will be sitting for the parents.

$5/hour for a 14 year old is appropriate.
