Grocery Store Wedding Cake

Hi everyone! I am planning a very inexpensive-at-my-home wedding for February 12, 2005. My mom has already taken care of the catering and i`ve bought my white dress for $89 at Dillards, but I could not find an affordable bakery to do my cake. I was talking to my friend about it and she suggested that i contact my local Tom Thumb or Albertsons and see if they do wedding cakes for cheap. What do you think?

Why don`t you have a bakery or your grocery store make a sheet cake with white icing. You could decorate it yourself with fresh flowers. My sister and I did that for a cousin`s shower and it turned out quite beautiful. To be 100% honest, we used frozen Sara Lee cakes, the vanilla ones with white icing. We decorated them with flowers and sugared fruit and got ooooooh`s and aaaaaahs from all the girls! (lol)

You both have good ideas. I heard that some bakeries will give you a discount if you advertise them on your wedding day ie let your guests know where the cake came from. Also, always ask what discounts are available, you`ll be suprised what you get by asking!

Thanks ladies for your advice! I contacted Albertsons and my mom and I are going over there tomorrow for an appointment with the baker. Hope all goes well!

We got our wedding cake from Publix. My htb is in the restaurant/reception business and has cakes from all over our area and he says that Publix has the best wedding cake he`s ever had.
