Brown Bridesmaid Dresses
I am planning a wedding for next fall and I would really like to have brown bridesmaid dresses, however I am not really sure how they would go with a black suit. I have tried to talk my fiance into wearing a different color suit, but he refuses, so does anyone have any suggestions of how to make brown and black work. It would really help to see pictures if anyone has them, it is hard for me to visualize. I would greatly appreciate any advice or pictures you have, and you could also e-mail me at halvergm@uwec.edu.

I asked my Mom to send some pics to you from my wedding last year. I am not able to forward photos.
Good Luck I hope this helps!

A tan or light brown would look fine with black. I`ve seen alot of bridesmaid dresses done in tan with black accents. Try the davids bridal website or alfred angelo website, If i remember correctly that`s where I saw some of them.

I think you could make this work nicely, with the right accessories and you could use your flowers and ribbons to "tie" the black and brown together. You could have the groomsman wear black tuxes with bronze (slightly shiny) ties and vests, their lapel flowers would coordinate with the maids bouquets, which would be bright orange/yellow/gold fall tone flowers. The bridesmaids could bronze or coppery jewelry with those brown dresses, their shoes could be a metallic also. Yes! I can see it and it can be pretty terrific.

Thank you everyone for helping me out! I really appreciated the pictures, they were beautiful! Your advice is definitally helping me out, everyone has some great ideas. However, I have one more question. Do you think a chocolate brown satin matte dress would work, or does the dress need to have more of a shine to set it apart from the black. Again I would love to see pictures of weddings or dresses if you have any, the ones that have been sent have been great help so I can visualize it.
Thanks again,
Sommer

Kate, what do you think of brown dresses with gold sashes and gold shoes for your bridesmaids and black tuxes with gold vests for your groomsmen? I think that would tie things together.

HI everyone,
I have finally decided on my bridesmaid dresses and I hope this helps everyone else out that is having the same problem as me. The bridesmaid dresses are going to be a dark chocolate brown with a toffee sash across the waist and the bottom trim of the dress will be toffee as well. The design is by Raylia, it is a very reasonably priced dress and it helps to add an accent color that the groomsmen can wear for their ties or vests. If you wanted to look up the dresses I think the design name is "Pina" from Raylia Designs. My bridesmaids are paying around $120. I also bought necklaces that had a brownish glass pendents on it with a small black chain, so that also helped to tie in the brown and black (I bought the necklaces from Ann Taylor, they really are pretty). I have no idea how this will look, but I am praying that it will work out. Good luck with picking your colors and I hope this helped out a little.

I`m having the same problem. I`m looking at having chocolate brown bm dresses but was stuck on matching the groom/groomsmen. A friend suggested pink shirts with ties to complement. The bridesmaids would be holding bianca roses (ivory) and i`d hold pink roses. Would all this go together or would it look hideous? I`m wearing an ivory dress

I think that sounds really nice.
Also I was thinking, there has to be brown tuxes out there somewhere.
I`ve seen them in magazies. Maybe you could call around and see if any tux shops can get tuxes in brown.

Sommer,
Where are you getting the Raylia `Pina` dresses for $120?? I have been quoted $169 and $179 from different places. Let me know how you got such a great deal. Thanks!

Hello,
I plan on having brown as well for my bridesmaids dresses. I think I`m going to have brown ties. I personally think black and brown look great together if you pull them together right.
You have great taste!

HI,
My name is Greta and I just had my wedding three weeks ago with brown bridemaid dresses and black suits. I was so worried that it would not turn out very good but I decided to go with it anyway and it turned out to be incredibly beautiful. You just have to make sure you add the right accents. I had never seen it done before so i didn`t know what i was getting myself into, but now I can tell all of you who would like to go with brown, do it, it will look gorgeous. If any of you would like to see pictures of my wedding, send an e-mail to me at halvergm@uwec.edu and I will send you pictures. Good luck planning, and trust me the colors work!

I`m doing a pink and brown color sceme also, I am going with a lighter shade of brown instead of chocolate from David`s Bridal, it`s called Latte, and I`m having the bridesmaids carry pink bouquettes. I went on After hours Formal Wear website and they have create-a-tux and you can see what brown on black looks like, I think it looks great!

I am also planning on having chocolate brown dresses for my bridesmaids. They will be wearing ocean blue shawls, and I can`t decide to have the tuxedo vests match the brown or the blue. Ideally, we would have chocolate brown tuxedos, but I cannot find one ANYWHERE! Does anyone have any photos they could send to me so I could see what brown dresses and black tux`s look like? roselaur@gmail.com Thanks so much!

I too have chocolate brown bridesmaids dresses and am having a very difficult time picturing them working with black tuxes. Unfortunately that is the only color tux my fiance wants to wear. If anyone has pictures so I could get a better visual for how the 2 colors might look together, or ideas on how I can make them work, I`d really appreciate it!
