Using Sparklers

I am having an evening wedding this autumn. I was thinking of using sparklers instead of bubbles, rice etc. Any suggestions on how to do this elegantly? ie. Light them from a candle, lighter, matches? Also, is this a hazard? Any autumn wedding ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think it sounds great: very unique! However, you`d have to find a way for all the sparklers to be lit at the same time...perhaps you could do some sort of candle favor to be at each table setting...with a lighter beside it...that way someone could organize the lighting of the sparklers right before you two make your apperance. The candles could be your favors, or bunch them together and make them the center piece for your tables! Already done your center pieces and favors? Ask someone to pass out lighters when the guests gather to bid farewell!

Instead of really nice favors, make a donation to a charity (like Make-A-Wish Foundation). Make small cards letting guests know this, tie them with rafia to miniature pumpkins, and place at each seat.

I am getting married on July 4, 2003. We are having an outdoor wedding and reception. I am going to give each guest 2 or 3 sparklers and matches emprinted with our names and the date. That way everybody can light their sparklers at relatively the same time. Some of the quotes on the matches I have come up with are "What A Match"; "A Perfect Match" and " A Match Made In Heaven". Good Luck and best wishes.

I was thinking about having sparklers at my outdoor wedding also. They have large sparklers that are about I think 24 inches or so that even if they didn`t light them all at the same time, they would burn long enough for the two of you to walk through them.
Just a thought.
