Retirement Party, 50`s Prom Theme

We are planning a retirement party and the theme is to be around a 50`s prom night. I am in charge of flyers and publicity but have no idea on where to start. Can someone give me some ideas and even ideas on how to decorate. Would like to get the flyer out ASAP, party is for March 9th. Thanks in advance.
