Bar Mitzvah

I would like some ideas for the candle lighting ceremony at a Bar Mitzvah. I feel that by giving the honor to some people and not to others, feelings are hurt. Also I am tired of seeing the same old poems being read, etc. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
The theme for the bar mitzvah will be television shows.
