Engraving An Engagement Gift

I purchased a watch as an egagement gift to my fiance. Do I engrave it with our"engagement date" or our "wedding date?"

If it`s an engagement present, I would use the engagement date. Have you set a definite date for the wedding? Could it change?
Another idea is to save it to give to him as a wedding gift (with the wedding date engraved).

Although the watch was an engagement gift, I decided to engrave it with the wedding date. I`ve been told that the engagement date becomes "less significant" once a wedding anniversary takes place of it.
