New Orleans Wedding, Possible Theme

Hello young brides. I have been going CRAZY lately trying to find a place to marry...first Mexico, then Sandals in Jamaica, and FINALLY I have decided on New Orleans. My fiancee and I love it down there. So, I am thinking of doing a Masquerade style wedding. Having everyone wear masks, and all sorts of stuff. PLEASE if anyone out there can shed some light, help me. PLEASE!!!! Good luck to you all.

I need advice on where to throw the wedding: i.e. Garden, aboredum, etc. In New Orleans. I am in New Jersey, so I was hoping someone was more familiar with New Orleans. Also, for a theme wedding, what is required? Do I have to have my guests dress up? Of can I just get away with having everyone carry masks? Also, what do I wear? Like a victorian dress? And what about my groom? I just asked ya 30 questions, no need to answer all......Thanks Angelique.

I am from New Orleans and I am plannin my wedding for 8/10/02. The internet is the place to go to plan wedding in New Orleans. Keep in mind that during Mardi Gras, right now, and when there are conventions in town you will spend more money on limos and hotel rooms. I don`t know your budget but there are many hotels in the french quarter that will do everything for you ($27 to $50 per person) and your guest will be right there in the heart of the French Quarter. Walking distance to churches and of course Bourbon street. Make sure you ask what festivies are taking place in the Quarter as there are many festivals of "all types" that you may not want to be part of. Also summer is cheaper to visit here but it is HOT AND HUMID *very bad hair days*! Mask can be purchased all over the Quarter and there is a flea market on the outside of the Quarter where you can get feathered mask for as little as $2.00 or as much as $500! Also great favors are ceramic half mask in your color scheme with the bride and grooms name on them. Also you have your guest second line to Mardi Gras music with decorated umbrella and also give Mardi Gras beads (cheap) to your guest. Hope some of this helps! I think New Orleans is a wonderful place to be married. It is a melting pot of Old and New. Good Luck
