Help With Colors For A Dec. Wedding

Could someone help me come up with some colors for a Dec wedding? I want something different and do not want to go with the traditional red and green. What would look good together and still reflect the wintery, holiday season?

What about a dark maroon or navy. They are dark colors and still fall into the fall/winter theme. Or be different and go black and white. Very pretty. Good luck and congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your help. I like the idea of burgundy but what color would go good with it? Also, isn`t it bad luck to go with black for a wedding? But, I do want something different and would consider it.

Traditions have changed alot over the years. Last July my cousin got married and we all wore black dresses.
I have also been to a wedding where the bridesmaids wore white and black. It really does look nice and I think that luck has nothing to do with a marriage. Now, what color would go good with maroon/burgandy. What about a champagne/sand color or a silver. Both colors match and it is very easy to find items in these colors.

I was planning a winter wedding, but with my work schedule I had to change it to July. The colors I was planning to use and am still using in July are Gold and White. I think an antique gold would look beautiful and classy. The favors I was going to use were gold bulbs and white bulbs. You can also buy the clear bulbs and put white and gold in them and swirl them and that would look beautiful.

I am also having a winter wedding and I am going with royal blue and silver. You would be amazed at all the stuff there is out there in those colors. Or there is Colbalt blue and gold, you could go with the celestial theme. Just ideas.............

If I was having a winter wedding I would go with colors that reflect the season. Something that reminds me of this time of year. I would go with an ice blue an a lot of white. You con also buy, or make, large over sized silver snowflakes and use mirrior cut in shapes to resemble frozen water ponds. Just a few ideas.

I just attended a wedding on Dec. 29th. The colors were forest green & creme. It was very elegant. Since it was just past x-mas, much of the floral colors were burgandy red, which also looked quite nice.
Good luck!! Leona

I am actually planning a December wedding. My ideas are:

Winter wedding theme. I want the bridesmaids dresses to be an Ice Blue color. My dress of course will be white, although I was thinking of adding a few Ice Blue sequins to go on the long train. My bouquet will be all white. Probaby All white roses. Of course, I may add some Ice blue color to it also. Instead of the church being overloaded with flowers, I am going to have Trees with no leaves. I will add the snow to the limbs, and even have white lights on them (I am having a night wedding by the way). They will be planted in a large pot, and the pot will be wrapped in a white cloth, with the ice blue bow tied around it. Right now, I am debating on whether or not to have the bridemaids have a bouquet or just a candle. I intend to make them look as much like Ice Princesses as possible. Their hair will be up, and have a small tiara. The dresses will be long and silk. No sleeves because I want them to have a wrap around the shoulders and arms (dont know what that is called!!!). For the pews, ideas are still in the air. Snowflakes/bows/etc are in mind.

For the reception, I want to have an ice sculpture if money allows. For centerpieces, my ideas are: white tablecloths sprinkled with glitter. White/Ice Blue balloon bouquets. Again, the tree branches sprinkled with fake snow. Maybe a white wicker basket filled with something...havent thought of what yet!

Those are my ideas. Hope they help. I typed real fast, so I hope it makes sense. You can email me if you would like. Please put winter wedding in the subject line so I dont delete it. Thanks!

I changed my wedding date to May, but when it was going to be at a cooler time, my bridesmaids picked dresses that had black velvet tops and platinum colored skirts. The look was elegant and you don`t have to worry about colors of flowers or decoration clashing with anything.
Have fun!

Hi,
I`m also planning on a December wedding and I`m not having the "red and green" either I want to be differant. I wanted orange and silver at first, then I was looking through the Feb.-March edition of MODERN BRIDE and found a beautiful wedding with pink, green, orange, blue, and kind of a maroon color. I saw it and just fell in love with it. Maybe you`d like it too.

I just got engaged and we are planning a January wedding. I wanted to use cranberry and plum as the colors and have winter berries on the cake and as centerpieces. I was hoping for a winterberry-type theme, but unfortunately I am having trouble finding dresses in both of those colors, so I am going with burgundy and gold instead. It still looks pretty without looking like it is Christmas Day. The silver/gold or silver/ice blue color schemes sound good too, but I really want a dark red in my wedding.
Also, I am planning to make place card holders out of pinecones. I will either buy them or collect them (in which case I will bake them to get rid of the pine-stickiness), and roll the edges in glue and white glitter. I will add a ribbon to the end so they can be used as a decoration for the guests to take home.
Hope that helps and congratulations!!

Purple or a lilac would do really pretty, plus you can add white to the flowers and the guys could wear lilac and silver.

I am having my wedding in December and I didn`t want to go with the traditional red and greens. My bridesmaids will be wearing Ivory dresses trimmed with gold and I will be wearing white with a faux fur shawl. I will be carrying red and white roses and my bridesmaid will each carry a single white rose with some gold accent peice. It will all be candlelit and I think that will accent the different shades of white really well.

I am currently planning a winter wedding. The colors will be ice blue, silver and white. The theme is going to be Cinderella, but we will also add the snowflake effect to make it more wintry. Also, I think navy, gold, and white with the celestial theme is a good choice.
