A Wedding Gift

My American friend is going to get married on Dec 28th in Arizona. I and my husband will fly from Thailand and join his wedding party. In Thailand, the gift given to bride & groom is money, so my question is can we give money / cashier cheque as a gift. Is it a practice in US ?
The other question is how should I dress to the wedding .. A suit or long dress . What does female guest wear to wedding party.

It is very appropriate to give money at American weddings. Infact, most couple prefer it.

About your attire, you might want to ask the bride and groom how formal their wedding will be. However, pant suits can be very classy and are fine even for a formal affair. If you`re still not sure, just go with the dress....better to be safe than sorry.
