Most oral contraceptives are to be started the first Sunday following your period. If you prefer to not get your period, then simply do not take the `sugar pills` and begin a new pack of pills - you will skip your period. Many Ob/Gyns feel this is quite safe to do but don`t recommend using the technique every month.

Are you already taking oral contracpetives or is it a new method of birth control?

There is also a new birth control on the market now, I think it is called Seasonale or something close to that. You only get your period 4 times a year. I am planning to ask my doctor about it. Only 4 periods a year sound good to me.
