50th Surprise Party; On New Years Eve

My Dad is a new year`s baby, and he`s turning 50 this year. My family has decided to throw him a surprise birthday party. It`s going to be at a small hall and we`re going to have dinner and dancing. We want to have a program too... We`ve already decided to make a slideshow of pictures of his life and all, but we don`t have that many ideas for the rest of the program and for the rest of the evening. Anything would be helpful just to keep everyone entertained and have a memorable day for my Dad. Since it`s a birthday/new years party, I want it to be really good. He`s a farmer/mechanic/real family/friends man so it`s just going to be everyone we`re real close to. Anything would be helpful! (from activites, to decorations... Anything)
