RUN From FYI Events!!!

Have the police made any advances in the investigation into Mechelle. I have not watched the news lately. Are her employees still with her? She is a piece of work.

Does anyone know where else to read/view this expose or the full story? I was not able to see it on TV nor can I find articles about this. I did a few weddings a few years ago with her. They actually turned out well, however, I had nothing to do with the finances of it- thank God. I actually did most of the planning on the ones I worked on and remember a few times she would have issues with funds and was cutting it close with some things (which drove me crazy!) but she ended up coming through and pulling the weddings off successfully but she was very unorganized and made some wacky decisions and it was obvious that she lied a lot. I have to say that I didn`t think that she was an "evil" person. I think that she got in way over her head and is definately incompetent when it comes to managing money or a business as well as disorganized and not too bright. She is definately a "piece of work" and lives in her own world. I have to agree with Damon in that I think she really did have a true passion for this but is just oblivious to the realities of conducting ethical, organized business. I really think that she is out of touch with reality. She would make a great Saturday Night Live character.Not that that is any excuse for the pain she has caused for these recent brides. I obviously do not know the details of these recent events but it is horrible that this is happening to these brides. I can see how her web-site is very misleading. It should be known however, that most of her staff and coordinators etc did not have anything to do with pricing, collecting, signing documents/contracts at least not when I was working with her. It really does make wedding coordinators look bad and that is a shame. I would really be interested in finding out more details or seeing an article etc.

I have to disagree with her being passionate. She is in this 100% for her own profit. She is not running a business, she`s running a total scam. Why else would she be using clients money to take trips to Hawaii and pay her own rent. Also, once a client is on to her she tells them they`ll get paid back once she books another wedding. She is the only representative for these properties, so she knows she can take advantage of these couples who fall in love with on of these places. Go ahead, hire Mechelle, that way someone else can get some of their money back.

To H: You know what...the more details that I learn about this company, the more angry and upset I get. I never thought of her as "evil" just idiotic and nut-so but the fact that this much money was embezzled and used for their pure enjoyment is pretty darn evil. So, I agree with you that she is not as passionate about weddings as she is with living a gluttonis and disgusting life!

Actually she is not the only representative on her properties. There are other representatives or the owners of the properties allow you to deal with them directly. Fyi events is more like the middle man in these deals.
