Wedding While In School
My boyfriend and I (soon to be engaged!) have been briefly discussing when we want to have our wedding. We would really like to have a fall wedding. Our anniversary right now is in October and we like the temperatures and colors of the fall season. The only problem is that both of us are in college right now, and will still be in school quite a bit longer (due to medical and graduate school later). It would be very difficult to have a wedding in the middle of our fall semester some year. I mean, the wedding itself would only take one day, but it`d be hard to miss classes for a honeymoon. My boyfriend suggested that we still get married in October, and then have our honeymoon over Christmas break when we will be out of classes for about a month. At first I really didn`t like that idea, but I`ve been thinking about it, and it has been growing on me. I was wondering if any of you have any opinions/experiences on a belated honeymoon, and if it would ruin the excitement of the trip if it didn`t follow the wedding directly. I would greatly appreciate any comments/suggestions. Thanks!

I don`t think it would ruin anything at all. My wedding is on July 9 and we will be doing a road trip honeymoon through the US in mid-august because I will be starting Law School in the Fall. Since we are having to move (we live in Hawaii) we thought we`d use the last few days after the wedding to spend with friends and family then make the trip just the two of us. We`ve always wanted to see the Grand Canyon and what not so why not make it our honeymoon? Plus, its killing two birds with one stone since we`d have to make the trip anyway. Whatever you do, as long as you`re with each other, it doesn`t matter.

I got married while I was in school as well. My biggest problem was my parents wanted me to finish school before I got married. They thought I would not finish if I got married first. Anyway, I got married , had a weekend getaway after the wedding. Later we had a bigger honeymoon . It worked out well and there was less pressure since we had been married for a little while. I do recommend getting a wedding planner atleast for that day. It was very stressful on me and my family when I planned the wedding myself. And I did finish school:)

Thank you all for responding! I feel a lot better about this idea. Now I can still have my dream wedding in the fall, and a wonderful honeymoon without stressing (too much anyway) about classes. Thanks also for the suggestion about a wedding planner. That will certainly help me out while I`m still trying to study. Thanks for the support!
