Melissa, Sorry I thought you posted your message last year, but after rereading it, you probably haven`t even got married yet. Any luck with the dress? Sue

A few ideas that I have not reserched but have thought of is ... Depending on how formal you are wanting things and if it is outside... Would be to have your dress custom made just the way you are imagining it. It sounds like you are wanting something for outside, maybe sheerish, so it would probably be alot more reasonably priced and fun, not to mention special. Also maybe consider doing just a white bathingsuite. Have an alterations company sew on all the beading and dazzle you want and also make you a throw or bathingsuite skirt. Just some ideas, good luck, I think a beach wedding is so wonderful and wish I was having one!!!

I`ll be getting married in Cancun and am looking for a similar type of informal dress. I found this one site, don`t know if it will help you but it might offer some ideas if you chose to have a dress made.

Melissa,
My suggestion to you is to get on ebay, they have some really pretty informal gowns come through that would be great for the beach, but you have to take the time to look. Also have you thought about looking at bridesmaids dresses. A lot of the designers for bridesmaids dresses are offering the majority of dresses in white or ivory. You could even go light blue. One designer that I can think of is Nicole Miller. Good luck in finding that perfect dress. It will come along sooner or later.

A good place to go would be theknot.com. You can go to the "My Knot" section. You can find out how much the average wedding in the US costs (it`s $19,000 - 20,000 I think). You can also make out your own budget and it will give you suggestions according to how much you can spend on each item. Also, if you go the "Cities" section, you can find local vendors in your area. Hope this helps!

I am getting married on the beach next month. I found a bridesmaids dress from Champagne Formals. Bridesmaids dresses are a good choice, less formal and come in many different colors.

I saw the most beautiful organza strapless dress, that had a wrap-around look to the skirt, organza is very light, airy & beautiful for a beach wedding.

I was looking for the same type wedding dress (flowy, but stylish) for my beach wedding. The one I finally found was by watters & watters. You can go to their website & find a dress store near you. The one I found is a white A-line with a tulle layer over it. The pictures on their website are not too great. The dress is much more impressive up close. Oh, & it was under $200. Hope this helps!!!

I found the vendor Jim Hjelm has a lot of dresses that were perfect for the beach I am having one of his fall 2000 dresses made in a silk chiffon which makes it less formal. Check out his website at www.jimhjelm.com and good luck !!!!!
