PLEASE HELP! Table Centerpieces At Reception

I am on a very tight budget and my fiance` and I are paying for our wedding and reception. I had an idea and the caterer thought it was creative and unique but I would like some other opinions. Instead of doing a big display table of fruits & cheese, we are thinking of doing individual displays on the tables. This would save us hundreds of $ on Flowers or other expensive centerpieces that die or have no use afterwards. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION...GOOD OR BAD. THANKS TONS!! :p

I would do 10, one for each table. They would each have a carved fruit holding a dip and then a display of fruit and cheese around it.

I think that sounds awesome! I wish I had thought of it before it was too late. Your guests will think you went out of your way to make them comfortable; they won`t even consider that you are saving money!

Hi! I found a site that gives you step by step instructions on how to make a fruit/vegie/candy heart stand. It looks pretty and should be fairly inexpencive. I`m planning on useing a few at my wedding reception. Here is the link:

How about a center with fruits and veggie with a candle in the middle to look nice in pictures

I have the same ordeal myself (paying for a wedding)...here`s what i`m thinking of doing...if you live in the SE U.S., you can take leaves from magnolia trees (they are very shiny if you wipe them with a damp paper towel)....place these around white pillar candles in the center of the table...looks beautiful and practically free...you could probably do the same thing with pine, spruce, or holly branches.

Very good idea. I was thinking of something similar myself but I`m still in the process of deciding. I only have a month left. Yipes.

Sorry, I`m not crazy about the edible centerpiece idea. It will probably look beautiful when people arrive, but it will be a mess within ten minutes.

I think the idea is a good one but as a wedding co-cordinator over here in the Uk, I would say the same to you as I would to others: dont try and impress too much, it doesnt matter what the centre piece is, as long as you have one and it is presentable, and not going to get in the way. Remember that depending on how many you arrange, if its edible, not everyone will leave it until the desired time!! Also take into account heat and humidity. If you are paying for it yourselves, yuo have to be realistic and within your budget. I would try for a nice flower display, with some cheese "parcels" underneath; it will be cheaper and still get the effect you wish to achieve.
