One of the most beautiful ones I`ve seen is to lay a bed of rose petals in the middle of the table and then to put votive candles randomly throughout the rose petals. If you go on the knot message boards and look at people`s bio`s you are sure to come across an example of this. Another idea that I just found is to use the petals to create a "glowing rose" you simply glue the petals around votive glasses so that it looks like a rose. Http://wedfrugal.com/projects/glowingrosecenterpieces.html You really can`t go wrong with going to the dollar store and picking up tons of different candles and holders of varying heights (you can always spray paint them so their the same color if that becomes a problem) and using them as the center piece and then scattering roses on all of the tables. I did exactly what you girls are talking about.
I scattered silk red rose petals in the center around a vase with a dozen real red roses. I then arranged tea lights amognst the petals. I thought it turned out great.
