Deprovera/Fertility

A friend didn`t get her deprovera shot on time, 2 weeks late, and is now feeling nauseous. She had unprotected sex during the 2 weeks. Would a pregnancy test tell her if she was pregnant? Or does the deprovera mess up the hormones and the test wouldn`t be accurate. Or would you feel nauseous during the first month after getting the shot? Any suggestions?

I am no longer on the shot but I know personally that every time I was late getting the shot, even a day, my doctor insisted I take a pregnancy test in the office. I would advise she go get a test and then if she is still worried then go see her doctor.

I would not be too concerned over this. Depo tends to stay in the system for a long time after. It took me about 6 months to get pregnant after going off of it myself. Depo shoudl not mess up a pregnancy test, as it is a harmone that will tst positive whihc I understand is only made when actually pregnant. Best of luck

I am investigating the possible connection between Depo Provera and an array of hormone related/affected illnesses, included (but not limited to) Cushing`s disease/syndrome and pituitary tumors.

If you have suffered from a lack of a period, visual changes or disturbances, headaches, dizziness, lethargy, major weight gain, depression and/or anxiety, increased hairiness (i.e. Facial), or facial swelling (also elsewhere on body, especially around neck, upper back, possible "hump") - since taking Depo Provera, please contact me as you are not alone! lisaw2005@hotmail.com .
