Deprovera

I just had my second baby 5 months ago and i sure don`t want anymore kids now (have two, 2yr old and 5 month old) i`m just looking into all kinds of birth control options and can`t decide which one, i read few comments and complaint about deprovera shot, some scared me, some were okay, i`m confused. Is it worth to try, does it work?

It works, but there is alot of weight gain involved. Yes you can exercise, but it will probably only keep you from gaining as much not gaining at all. I exercised on a daily basis ( I used to run cross country), and over a two year period I gained 40 pounds. Perhaps some of it varies from person to person, but to me, it is not worth it.

I am investigating the possible connection between Depo Provera and an array of hormone related/affected illnesses, included (but not limited to) Cushing`s disease/syndrome and pituitary tumors.

If you have suffered from a lack of a period, visual changes or disturbances, headaches, dizziness, lethargy, major weight gain, depression and/or anxiety, increased hairiness (i.e. Facial), or facial swelling (also elsewhere on body, especially around neck, upper back, possible "hump") - since taking Depo Provera, please contact me as you are not alone! lisaw2005@hotmail.com .

I was on the Deproprovera shot in college for almost a year and so was my roommate. Both of us experienced hair loss, some weight gain (her more than me) and mood swings. During my 11th month on the shot I got my period and it didn`t stop for almost a month straight. Some spotting every day etc. I went back on the pill and would recommend that over the Depo shot. The orthotricyclan was too strong but they make an ortho-lo which is great and I haven`t experienced any weight gain, nausea etc. . I`ve also heard good things about Yasmin. If you can remember to take it every day go for it!

I loved being on it. I was on it for 5 years before I had my baby. I spotted in the first month, then it stopped, I didn`t get my period (which was great!) and I never had cramps or mood swings (which were bad when I was on the pill)... And I was never skinner in my life, size 4! No, it`s not for everybody, but It worked for me. I would try it, but give it time. And if you eat everything in site, don`t blame it on the shot.
I can`t be on it now, because I am 40 and if I want another child, it might take me a bit... And I don`t have that much more time.

I think that evidence has clearly demonstrated an increase in appetite coupled with a slowing of metabolism for an overwhelming number of people. That can be blamed on the shot. When I first tried it I ignored the weight gain warnings because I was a size four and had never been any bigger. After about a year I was a size 12.

I have just gone on the shot and what I am most concerned about it weight gain. I read in the information brochure that it is connected to your body`s reduced tolerance and ability to process carbohydrates. So obviously I will reduce my carbohydrate intake, especially refined carbohydrates which are not good for you anyway. I am scared though because my husband is body conscious and I want to maintain my weight at this level even lose 2 or 3 pounds if I can. So I hope for the best, I will watch my food intake and weight up whether it is the shot or me using it as an excuse for increased food intake.

Sure it works good,no period, but if you want more kids in the future i would not take it, it messes up your system.
