Wedding And Reception Held In The Same Room

I am coordinating a wedding that will take place in an Exhibition Hall. The reception is scheduled for immediately following the ceremony. What is good method for transitioning from wedding to reception?

Kim,

We had this problem at my wedding two years ago. We had a ceremony planned outside, but due to inclimate weather had to move it into the tent where we were having the reception. We decided to go on and seat people at the tables we had reserved for them for the reception. This saved on having 200 extra chairs or having to move chairs. It was almost like a dinner theater production, they just had to wait for the dinner part. After the ceremony, we formed our receiving line on the dance floor and they circled around, then back to their seats. They got to hand out at their tables through the wedding party introductions, etc. Then we announced the food line was open, etc. We were aorried this would make the wedding passe or too casual, but all the guests loved it. They said it was the most comfortable they`s ever been at a wedding and they were better able to enjoy the ceremony. All 200 guests said since they were more comfie and had to move less, etc. They were relaxed and had more fun than befoe at weddings. Hope this helps.

This helps because I am considering the same thing but didn`t think it would work so well. Now, I may reconsider that option. Thanks.
