Bridal Shower By Mail?

My friend asked me to be her Maid of Honor about 1month ago. The wedding was supposed to be in the Fall of 2002, but three weeks ago was changed to October 27th of this year! There is very little time for me to plan a bridal shower and she works in retail and gets very little time off. I still want to do something for her. I was thinking about writing all her close female friends who are invited to the wedding and maybe asking for receipes??? From there I would put together a book and present it to her before the wedding. Is this bad/good idea? Any other ideas??

I am on the web searching for any one who is stuck in the same situaltion as myself. I am the bride and all of my bridesmaids, family and friends all live in different states. So what i came up with, was a Bridal Shower by mail....anotherwords my fiance and i register and send out an invitation for a bridal shower by mail sending a favor (of course) with register info and then request that they send all congratulation gifts to XX address.
But no where can i find if this idea is okay or at least the best way to wrk this idea...
What do you think of this idea..?? i like your reciepe idea...but i know that the bride would appreciate the gifts for home more.

Tiffany, does this mean your thowing your own shower? This is a bad idea if I read that correct. It is like you asking people to provide you with two gifts and sounds greedy. If you are thowing this shower for someone else it is a good idea because it is a way to show your friend/family member you are excited for her.
