Black Bridesmaid Dresses
I`ve chosen the color black for my bridesmaids to wear at my wedding. I`ve heard that some people allow their bridesmaids to choose their own dresses with specific guidelines such as a long black dress, with spaghetti straps. Has anyone seen a wedding that looks like this? Did the wedding party look good or did it look a little sloppy since all the dresses are different? Any advice would help a lot! Thank you!

The only place I have seen this in is magazines. But it did look good, I was considering it myself, but I am a very traditonal person and went the traditional route. But I am sure that your girls will love this idea because they can get a dress that fits them right and looks well with their body and most likely would be able to wear it again. I really don`t see why this would look bad at all. I think it would make the wedding look more personalized. Hope this helped :o)

Thank you for your help Jen! I was thinking it would also be a good idea because then everyone will also buy a dress that somewhat fits their personality. It will be fun to look back on someday. If anyone else has seen a wedding like this please post a message with your opinion. You`ve put my mind at ease a bit Jen- thanks again for your help!

I`d have to agree with the last message. I would be terribly worried that there would just be too much miss matched. Black is a strange color too...it can have a different appearance with different fabrics.
I chose black for my girls. Our wedding is this New Years Eve. All the dresses match. However, I did tell them that i didn`t care what kind of shoes they chose. I`ve been in 5 weddings and those stupid bridal shoes can do a number on your feet. This way they had their own say in something and they can be comfortable. The only guideline i gave them was...fancy black shoes.
I also think it depends on who has taste and who doesn`t. Some people just don`t know. Some have great taste. I think your taking a huge risk...but it could work out. I wouldn`t want the stress of worrying about it.
Good luck!

I think that black would be nice but I would go to a few online stores and give them examples of the styles and materials that you would lile. If you don`t care that they are not dressed alike, then it shouldn`t matter but I would agree that you don`t want different materials. Good Luck!!!

Hey! Yeah, I`m going to have black bridesmaids dresses too. My wedding is going to have the colors black and white. I thought about letting the girls chose because what looks good on some doesn`t look good on others. I talked to a bunch of people about it because well, I was seriously stressing. I finally decided to just pick out the same dresses because it`ll look neater that way and it is just easier I guess then to go shopping for 5 different bridesmaid dresses. Good luck!
