"cocktail Party"

My husband will be turning 30 in Jan. I was going to have a party around the holidays. Due to a very limited budget I was going to have only hors d'oever's (sp?), wine, and beer from 8pm-12pm. Is this an apporopriate name or type of party?

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks Britt

Because this is a birthday party, you are not really obligated to indicate what it is... You can just indicate that it is your husband's birthday party, and there will be light appertisers (if you want) but also not a must. Hope its a great success.... Www.krazybars.com

How about giving your guests personalized candy bars as a keepsake. For information contact me at kandygrams@hotmail.com.

The type of party is appropriate, but I wouldn`t call it a cocktail party unless you will be serving mixed drinks. If it is the cocktail party you are after, pick a limited few types of mixed drinks that are easy to prepare at a self help bar (designated area with the appropriate supplies). To cut down costs, ask your guests to each bring an hors d`oeuvre to share with others. Have plenty of cocktail napkins and some swanky music playing in the background to set the mood. Don`t forget to ask the guests to wear "festive attire." Or put a 40`s twist to the party with both attire and some swing music. By the way, consider filling a jar or box with 30 memories provided by family and friends (those who can`t make it can email them for you to print ahead of time). Present to birthday "boy" and read aloud for some tears and laughter. A framed baby picture (or two) of him as a center piece are a must for giggles and oohs.
