We Have Ideas...Are They Inappropriate?
My fiance and I are planning a wedding, but it is years off so we have time to put the right ideas together. I am planning on wearing a partiotic wedding gown. Is this over the top? We have other ideas about holding our wedding in our local planetarium since we are amature stargazers. Is this over the top? All of the friends and family we have talked to (these people know us well) have expressed excitement about our ideas, but some outside input is important too. My brain is on overload with ideas related to the patriotic/planetarium theme. What do you all think?

I like your ideas!! Some people have told me that the dress I chose & the place I am having my wedding at (it is full of unicorn & fairy statues) is goddy & unapproperate for a wedding...but it is "me" and it is things that both my fiance` & I love, so it is no one else`s business if they think you are over the top. This is YOUR day...go with the things you love, that will result in a wedding that is "so you"... By the way, I know a site that has a fabulous patriotic wedding gown, it is thefrom the same company I got mine from!!! E-mail me at: princess_kimmy@rushmore.com & I`ll give you a link to the dress!!

Mara,
I say go with what you want. They sound like great ideas, plus those that attend will never forget your wedding.

I don`t think any of your ideas are over the top. I think it`s a good idea. That will be beautiful I believe. It just shows that you are patriotic about the dress. If this wedding is what you trully want then go for it. It`s your big day, don`t worry about what others have to say. But if you do, I think it will be beautiful!

People are holding receptions everywhere now. I went to one held in an Airport Museum....it was awesome.
I would love to see your patriotic gown, I never heard of one! Is there a site that has pictures? Have fun and good luck with all your planning!

I have a website address for patriotic gowns. Email me if you want to see them...they are really over the top, but are a fitting tribute to the good ole` USA. I got my gown from the same site...although, mine is not patriotic. :) princess_kimmy@rushmore.com

Mara,
I love your idea for the planetarium, i think that you could come up with some awesome ideas to go with that and have an amazing wedding. However, I must say that the patriotic wedding gown is a little over the top, I say this only because it`s your wedding day and it`s about expressing your love for your husband, not your country. Also, I think it would kinda clash with the planetarium. If you wanted to include something patriotic, why not do it in a more sublte way, such as a sparkler send off (which would also go great with the planetarium idea) or give out little flags as favors. But I just feel that this day is really supposed to be about you and your husband and having a patriotic theme might take away from that because it places focus on our country instead of you. I guess think about how you want to remember it, as a fourth of july picnic or a romantic expression of your love? Anyway, that`s just something to consider, love the planetarium idea though!

Although I like your points you made Traci, I don`t agree with your views..my wedding gown is way over the top, but that surprises no one because I am an "over the top" kind of person...so for me that is my style & if my gown wasn`t over the top...people would wonder if I was feeling ok..he he..I guess it all depends on the person..obviouslly there is a reason she got the idea of having a patriotic gown in the first place...maybe her `husband to be` faught over in Iraq or something & she feels that she is really lucky to have her love back & so this is how she wants to show her new husband how glad she is that he is back & OK......even if that is not the case...of all the companies who have patriotic gowns, they all report that the ones that are patriotic are their best sellers. So, other brides are having the same idea & feeling to go with the patriotic gown...Like I said, it all depends on the situation, the people, & the reason you want a gown like that...Some people are just really patriotic & if you want your wedding to be a representation of yourselves & you happen to be patriotic, go for that kind of gown...it will represent you & the type of person you are...True, a wedding celebrates love between 2 people, but it also celebrates that the 2 can be joined as 1, but still have their own seperate passions & things they like..if she likes it I think she should go for it!!! Good luck!!! :)

Kimmy,
I disagree. I saw your gown and don`t think it is over the top at all, it is absolutely gorgeous! Though I do agree the patriot gown is over the top, but if that is what a bride wants why not! I think it is FUN! And your Wedding should repreasent what you are as a couple! Go for it!

I think that your ideas are over the top for me, not for you. Do whatever you please. However, one word to the wise..for everyone. Make sure that your ideas will stand the test of time. How will you look back on your wedding pictures 20 years from now? Let that be your final judge, not me in my traditional white (which is what I am using).
