Non-Traditional Reception Activities
Bonjour tout les monde! (Hello everyone!) I'm collecting tasteful activitiy ideas for an 80 person reception in a historic building on the campus of the Univertsity fo Virginia. There will be no DJ and no six course dinner -- only tea, wine, cake and finger food. The occasion will last approx. Four hours, but I would like structure to it. I have gathered options, such as a violinist, slide show, volunteers for marriage advice, etc., but I'm looking for ideas no one has ever seen or will expect.
On top of that, some of the attendies will be from France (my fiance is French) and some don't speak English -- so web page links to "weddings of different cultures" would be an added bonus. I thank those who respond! God Bless.

I am a wedding planner and here are some things that we have done. Something for the longest married couple, generally I have the photographer take a nice picture of them and then the bride and groom makes a nice speech to the couple (like how the admire them for being married for so long, and they hope to be as happy and married as long etc.). The bride and groom Frames the picture and makes sure that the couple gets it. We have done this with a dance or just everyone stand up and then the DJ starts saying anyone less than 10 yrs sit down. Etc.
I did not do this but I had heard about a wedding that instead of having the dollar dance they said that the bride and been kidnapped and the kidnapper was demanding ransom from all of the guest in order to get her back. Everyone said it was really cute.
