Seamstess From Hell...

Im the MOH in my best freinds wedding in 5 days. We got our dresses last night (almost 2 months late) from the seamstress. The one bridesmaids dress is beautiful and fits her perfectly, but the other two are awful. The one is 4 inches shorter then ours, has plain cap sleeves (ours are petal sleeves, made up of 3 material `petals`), and buckles really bad around the bust. Mine is a good 2 sizes too small and is made of a thin satin with is really clingy (she also didnt line them like she was supposed to), so it looks really slutty. The hem was only basted, and started falling out almost immediately. We cant get ahold of the seamstress to ask if she can do anything about them. All the fittings went great, but i think she started running out of time and just sped through them. WHAT DO WE DO???????? The bride is allready totally stressed out, and will probably go into hysterics if she sees them like this.

First have a friend take pictures of all of you in your dresses together side by side So you can really see the differences in length and fit. Also take close up pics of the insides of dress, to show the lack of lining, and of the sleeve differences. Make sure to go over your original contract with the seamstress, is it in writing that each dress was to be lined and the lengths of each dress, and the sleeves? if it`s not, it will be harder to prove, but still doable. Then run to a local seamstress, tailor or alterations specialist. They will be able to repair the damage within your time frame, maybe not liners, but the rest is easy enough. Keep the bill from the new repairs, and have them detail each and every repair on the bill. Lastly, enjoy the wedding, DO NOT tell the bride, and file a claim immediately with the BBB and in civil court.

Would love to know what happened, this happened to a friend of mind and they all had to run to the local department store and find 5 dresses that were somewhat the same, it turned out looking great, like it was planned that way, but the original seamstress was taken to court and lost...........this is why you have a contract that states you get the dresses ONE month in advance or they don;t get the final payment, believe me, they won`t want to be stuck with 5 or 6 dresses and only a deposit on them.

I have a similar problem. My seamstress moved and did not even mention that she was doing so I had been trying to call this women for weeks and no answer something told me just to show up. I did just that and what do you know she was on the move right in front of my eyes. I asked her when she was planning on calling me and I explained to her the reason I picked her shop was because it was in the perfect area and nieghborhood. (I live in Chicago).
She tells me "Oh I didn`t get around to calling everyone yet". So I asked all of my bridesmaids of corse none of them knew of any of this. So I went back to the dresss shop and demanded to see one of the dresses. Just as I suspected none of the dresses were done or for that matter even started. So I went to another seamstress and had her start on everything all over again my wedding is November 27th and this just happened last week. I did just what the women said to do I went and reported her to the BBB and I also went and filed a claim. Do it don`t let them get away with almost ruining someone`s dream day.
