Trying To Find The Designer Of A Wedding Gown
I tried on a strapless gown, a-line, in color diamond white. The lady at the shop refused to tell me the designer unless I purchased it. She, at first, said the designer was ES, which I assumed was Elie Saab. I don`t think it`s Elie Saab. The dress had lace embroidered all over with no beads on any sort. She said the price was $2,000. Does anyone know who this designer might be?

I would be really really wary of buying a gown from someone who refuses to tell you the name of it. Did she rip out the tags too? What I can suggest is going on theknot.com and looking under their gown search to see if anything comes up. Good luck.

Sorry I forgot to add that you can do an advanced search too, and type in lace as an embelishment. Your probably want to also go with the $$$ for the price range (I think that`s 1500-3000) so it can narrow it down even more. I hope this helps!

Hey Rhonda Elizabeth is right, this kind of business practice is sketchy and kind of insulting. You have every right to know what you are buying and you also have a right to know if they are authorized by the designer to sell it. They know who the designer is, they should just tell you. 2K should get you a very good gown, IMO. Decent brands like Maggie Sottero have allover lace styles for like 1000 to 1500 or so retail, maybe less. For 2k you deserve at least a moderate couture quality similar to a Marisa or simple Jim Hjelm silk gown -the part under the lace should for sure be silk and the lace overlay should be couture sewn without messy seams and disrupted patterns. If they cant prove it is a decent designer gown I say leave, or, ask for a price that is in line with other mass market brands. Chicbridal.com has an allover lace Lady Roi advertised for like 650.00 that you can print out and take in as a legit starting point. That said - if the saleslady mispronounced it might be EF - if they can prove it is an Elizabeth Fillmore gown grab it, that is a good price! Let us know how it turns out!

I found out who makes the dress. It is Marisa. I ended up buying it and got it for $1750, due to a discount. Is this a good designer brand? I hear Marisa makes some dresses that look like the pricier gowns.

Hey Rhonda - that is very similar to some quotes I got on Marisa, for an allover lace that is a good price I think. Alan and Denise Fields rate Marisa very highly - quality and fair price.
