I live in Hawaii, and it is not something we do here. I`ve heard of it from movies like "Steel Magnolias" but no one does them here. Most people have their weddings at hotels in Waikiki where it is hard enough to get the hotel to let you bring in your wedding cake from outside, so having two cakes brought in would be horrible. Besides, I know for my wedding the hotel is providing eight different desserts so having another cake would be a waste. That`s why we`re having a small wedding cake that won`t be served because no one will eat it!

My husband to be is a police officer, so his groom cake will have a "police theme", the groom`s cake is basically something special done just for the "groom", it`s a cake made up for him that highlights his personality or interests! Come on girls! The whole wedding is basically what the bride wants and most of it reflects her personality. Let`s not forget that Special Man in your life!
He`ll long remember your thoughtfulness

We got married on on Father`s Day this year and thought we would make both dads happy and spent $20 at Wal-Mart and got a Dale Earnhardt #3 grooms cake. Both fathers thought it was great and even had their pictures taken with the cake :)

My fiance is not much of a ckae person but he loves pies. So a few days before my grandmothers and mom, and his grandmothers and mom are all getting together and having a pie making party. We have to make a lot of them so thats why we are getting together. Plus it is a cool way for all of the women on both sides of the family to get together!

Truthfully, I don`t know why the concept of having a grooms cake is tradition. But, as said in another post, the wedding usually reflects the tastes and personality of the bride. Maybe this tradition is so the groom can reflect a little bit of his taste:)
