NJ WEDDING COSTS-HELP

Hi! I`m a mom of a severely disabled 5 yr old sweet boy, fulltime college student and teaching assistant and so its a little tought trying to find time to research all the wedding details as in depth as I`d like. Anyway, I don`t make much money, but I am willing to save whatever I Can, within reasonable limits, to have a nice wedding. I don`t need a wait staff, or fancy schmancy stuff, but I do need a place that can house 175-200 people, with great food and drinks for 4-5 hrs, good music and a heck of a lot of fun. With my fiancee and I working at the same school there is an automatic 60 people that we have to invite, plus family and outside friends. Which is fine I want everyone to be there, and I`m willing to sacrifice flowers and pricy cakes and even trying to find photography students to capture our wedding, but I can`t afford 80-100 per person for a meal and some drinks. We are getting married in Dec 2005, mainly because of off-season prices, but in some cases they only offer 8-10 off their normal pricing. Please, any suggestions on helping to earn money, or getting places to sponsor our wedding, or
Just ideas of cutting costs, or finding lower priced reception places, please would be so helpful. Thank you so much

Why don"t you ask your school if you can use their gym for your reception. I often decorate for friends on a tight budget by using an aircompressor to blow up baloons. I tie two baloons together, add in another two etc.until I have a total of ten baloons in the baloon " bouquet". I then tie curling ribbon to the baloons and use a paper clip to attach them to the ceiling tile grid. They can be done ahead of time because unlike helium, the air doesn`t leak out. I buy the baloons in bulk at a party store. You will need about 4 people to do this assembly line fashion. My email is awmcyberphobe@aol.com You might try calling some of the ywca`s in your area as well. You can then control the cost of food(have a favorite italian restaurant cater the food). Liquor sometimes is an issue at the "y`s" so be sure to ask. Good luck, Carol
