I am having an Autumn wedding and I really want it to be formal. I have seen plenty of ideas fo informal weddings and I really dislike the idea of pumpkins. Any help at all would be awesome!

I am having a fall theme as well but my fiance doesn`t want pumpkins (bummer- I love them!).

Here is what I plan to do for the centerpieces- order calle lilies or roses that range in color from cream, orange, red, wine to chocolate. A sample can be seen under the bulk section of www.flowerbud.com (http://www.flowerbud.com/images/flowers/Callas_mini_bulk.jpg).

Small aspen or maple branches will be included in the arrangement. Then spread maple or aspen leaves of varying color around the arrangment and put votives all around (good deals on www.cudge.net).

On top of the leaves, I am going to put red and amber flat glass gems to reflect some of the light from the votives.

I would love some more ideas to give the decor some pop so please keep posting!

I`m obsessed w/autumn and am also getting married in Oct. 2005. We are having leaves everywhere! My niece will be the "leaf girl" scattering leaves down the aisle. Ceramic pumpkins are our favors along w/personalized CDs. My bouquet is filled w/autumn colors including crabapples & fall foliage. My fiance`s boutonniere will be a crabapple w/fall foliage. The centerpieces will have copper pillar candles w/apples and will be full of autumn colored flowers. The bridesmaid`s dresses will be a burnt orange color... Pretty much...if I can incorporate any more autumn into my wedding I will!!! PS~love the idea about the caramel apples!!!

Hi Sam,

I think you can have a formal look for autumn without the pumpkins. I am not a big fan of the multicolor corn that is also featured, either.

The use of the tall silverplated flower towers can be made into a fall look by the design materials that you put inside. Choosing fall leaves and autumn colors for flowers will complete the look.

Congratulations to everyone on your upcoming weddings.

We are getting married October 30th and we ARE having a costume party. But the ceremony takes place first so we wanted to make that a little more elegant. We made our own invitations with the help of our friend`s fantastic artwork. Please take a look at it on www.teamberger.com under "invite". She`s available to do any type of custom invitations, holiday cards, etc. I can send her contact information to you if you send me a request. Please also send any fall/Halloween wedding pictures to halle_gould@yahoo.com. I am looking for cake, centerpiece and bridal party flower ideas!

Thanks

Hi I`m getting married in 10 days!!! My theme is Fall.... SOme things i have incorporated are fall leaf garlands, fall leaf wreaths under floating candle bowls a leaf floating candle, ontop of mirror circles and surrounded by votives.. My favors are mini jars of homemade apple butter.. I had proffessional labels made at myownlabels.com, we also cut out circles of this beautiful gold fall patterned fabric to put on the jars and glued burgendy ribbon around the rim. My girls dresses are a cranberry/burgendy color, My invitations were really pretty and fall inspired. My dinner is going to be basically thanksgiving dinner food (carved Turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, salad, green beans, cranberry sauce, and rolls...... STuff like that...i had a lot of fun planning this wedding and the theme made it really fun too. I`ll include a link to a site with lots of my ideas! Hope it helps! I was going to do caramel apples for my favors but was having a difficult time figuring out how to package them without buying expensive clear boxes. Oh yeah and my weddings on a boat..theres a pic of the boat on this website too :)
Copy and paste this link if it doesn`t come up :)

Hi all,
This message board is great. I am also getting married in October 2005. My fiance and I are planning a simple and fairly inexpensive wedding. Neither of us into a fancy, big, overblown ceremony/reception. I thought I would share some
Of my ideas if anyone else is taking the simple inexpensive
Route. My sister, who is my maid of honor is going to help by making/finding materials to make center pieces, she`s really crafty. I`m going get a wedding cake, and some other food for the reception at a local grocery store. I may get some sub sandwiches from subway to go along with the store items, like veggie and meat trays for the guests to eat before cake and drinks. Instead of having a guest book, my fiance and I are going to have a picture of us and get it matted and have the guests sign their names on the mat when they come to the reception. I also found an idea for thank-you notes, we`re going to have pictures of all the guests taken as they come to the reception and then we will sign and date them and send them as thank-you notes. Instead of throwing rice, or having butterfies, or bubbles, all the typical ideas, I want to have bags of balloons from the store at each table at the
Reception, and just before it ends I want the guest to blow them up, or I might do them all before, I don`t know, and have the guest release the balloons as my fiance and I leave the reception. I`m going to rent my wedding dress instead of making one or buying one, I`ve heard that`s a way to save some money. Those are my ideas as far as money goes. I had a couple other ideas as far as the ceremony and reception go. I am going to have both my parents walk me down the isle, I feel like they are both giving me to my future husband. At the ceremony I am going to have a kids table with things for them to do so they aren`t bored if they come to the reception. My fiance and I don`t like the bouqet/garter toss, so instead all the single girls are going to get a flower so that the girls feel like they aren`t left out or like they don`t
Get something. I haven`t figured out anything for the single guys, or how to work them into the equation. That`s pretty much all my ideas at this point, I`m still looking for more though! I just thought I would share, maybe see what people think, if they might do something similiar or something.

Cute ideas Carrie!! I am doing the signing mat with a picture and also the kids table too!! What ideas do you have for the kids table?? I`m still finishing up that (yeah i know i only have 8 days....lol) I found a place online that had wedding coloring books that you can download and print for free so i`m making the kids coloring books www.thecrayonhouse.com and i got terra cotta pots and put a bunch of crayons in them....also put fruit roll ups individually wrapped in terra cotta pots to put on the table.... Still looking for more ideas though :)

I also forgot to mention that I found a cute idea for the guestbook. Instead of having a guestbook that people sign, buy postcards with fall foliage or fall mountain scenes on them. Have them at the wedding or reception addressed to yourselves and stamped. Have each person write a message on the postcard, and have the Maid of Honor send them to you after the wedding. That way you come home from your honeymoon to wonderful wishes!

Hey! I too am having a fall themed wedding in October 2005. And am not a big fan of having pumpkins either. But I came up with the idea of having two large pumpkins on the table (one on each end) out front next to the leave shaped, name placecards. But the pumpkins will be carved with our last name and illuminated with a small votive candle. Our reception will be early evening just as it getting dark, and we will have the lights dimmed, so the pumpkins will glow. I think it`s so charming! I loved the idea so much that I had to incorporate it!
