Need Help W/ Welcome Home Party For Soldier.

Does anyone have any ideas for a welcome back party. My husband has been in Germany and Kosovo for
2 1/2 years and I would like to give him a warm backyard welcome home. He is in the military. I thought of using
The red, white, and blue theme. But I'm having difficulty in coming up with fun presentations or anything like that.
Any suggestions?

The only thing I could think of is a party for two. The two of you. That will be the best party for him. :) Just my opinion. I use to be a USMC wife and my DH was only gone 6 months. I didnt want to share him with anyone else.

Thank you for your recommendation, but believe me I already have that covered. :o)

I plan to wait until he has been back for about a month or so. But he has a lot of great friends who have not seen him for a
Very long time and I thought it would be better for them ALL to see him on ONE night, than for me to have a flood of
Unexpected guests popping in for the next three months.

Thanks again for your suggestion!

Maybe you could kind of do the Around the World theme. You could make it patriotic with the red white and blue. But serve foods from the areas he was at, Germany and Kosovo. I am sure you can find some recipes from these areas. I know they have AOL in Germany maybe you could somehow connect with someone there and see what kinds of things they do for parties. I agree with having EVERYONE there at one time rather than every other day. If he took pictures you could display them on your serving table. Put a clear plastic table cloth over it and that way they are protected and they could still be seen. Then again a good ol BBQ would work too. Just a few decorations and the hamburgers and hot dogs. Get a apron from the store and put something like
Gone for 2 1/2 years and she makes ME cook.
Hope that helps out a bit.. I will still do some thinking.
Oh and dont forget the big welcome home sign, use a old sheet bought from the Goodwill and paint on it.

It's the end of July, so I don't know if your celebration has already passed. My idea for something special is to have a rhymed poem written for and about him, using stories and details of his life that you send.

My site is www.celebrateinrhyme.com, or you can email at verse@celebrateinrhyme.com with any questions.

Congrats on finally reuniting !

Hello,

I custom make and personalize candy bar wrappers. I have over 100 different wrappers that you can choose from. I have an american flag as well as many other wrappers that might be great for your occasion. Not only will you and your husband love these wrappers, so will your guests because them come complete with a yummy candy bar of your choice. The wrappers will be personalized with your information and you can even add a special message to the back of the wrapper. I can also help you with wording if needed. Good luck to you!

My husband is also in the Military and is coming home soon. We ordered him a very nice personalized "welcome home" banner with his photo on it from www.bannergrams.com.
