I received an RSVP card and wanted to know how to reply (I don`t do many RSVP`s). The card is worded as follows ...
The favour of your reply is requested by the tenth of September

Will __________ attend
How would I reply, assuming my name was John Jones I will be attending alone?

In the will attend are you sure the line is in the middle of the words, or is it in front like this: _____ will attend

Yes, I am sure that it says
Will _____________ attend
That is what I thought was odd as I had not seen an RSVP worded that way before.

It might have been a typo, I would write: be able to that way it will sound correct.

Does it also have a line that says
Will not attend
If it does you could also place a check mark on the line.

This is how I would complete it:
Mr. John Jones
Will 1 attend
That way they know how many guests are attending.

You would respond as such:
M__________ (John Jones)
Will ________ attend
Will not ________attend
( you will check the attend area, and place a 1 also )

I know this message was posted a long time ago, but feel that it is necessary to respond in case anyone else reads this. When someone writes "will ___ attend" on an RSVP you are supposed to leave it blank if you are planning to attend, or write "not" if you are declining the invitation. This is commonly used on invitations, but is certainly not my favorite format.
