Spring Wedding Ideas

Hey everyone! Im getting married in April 2005 and was hoping you could all help me with some ideas....

What are some ideas for centerpieces & favors?? any clues? I have some ideas for favors.. But I have decided to go cheaper than what I had planned! So now im just checking around for new ideas! my colors are pale yellow & lilac if that helps any

Also, how does everyone feel about silk flowers instead of getting real ones??? thats another option i am debating on & just can`t get the right feedback from family. Do they look real? Do they look nice? I think I would like to go that route.. But just haven` t seen enough to know it will look as beautiful as i would hope..

I appreciate any ideas or suggestions...

Thanks everyon!

I have the EXACT same questions. I just went to the site and found some really nice (or so they look) silk flowers. I am really into Calla Lillies. If you are curious email me at fariss_stephanie@bah.com

My wedding is May 2005 and I`m trying to think of affordable centerpieces too. First of all, stay away from floral arrangements unless you are just using a stem or two. I saw one idea of some vases (short rectangle ones) filled with frozen peas (sounds weird, but is really cute) and a single gerbera daisy. Tea lights in cute votives always make things look fancier and cozier, too.

We offer elegant mini ceramic tile magnets. They are personalized and come in many different designs including spring flowers. They are created by a tile artist, so she can make a custom design for you at no extra charge. The magnets run $3.00 each plus a one time set up fee. You only need to give one magnet per couple, since most couples only have one fridge.

I don`t know about you girls but I come to this site to get ideas from OTHER brides. I do not appreciate getting advertisements when I ask a question. I know I sound really obnoxious but enough is enough. Just my thoughts...

I am getting married in May 2005, and I am using silk flowers in my wedding - after I saw a positively gorgeous display of them at my aunts wedding two years ago. She used some sort of candle stand that stood may a foot high. A lilac votive candle (one of her colors) was in the center, and it was surrounded by cascading flowers that touched down to the table. They were so pretty that I used the one on my table as a centerpiece on my coffee table at home (she gave them away after the ceremony). Perhaps you would like to try this.

I just recently got married and my colors were shades of purple and yellow. I was really wanting real flowers, but my mom took me to look at fake flowers at the Hobby Lobby. I was so angry with her, but when we got there the lady who makes the arrangements was great. She helped pick out the best looking flowers and just the right colors and types.
She ended up making an absolutely perfect, gorgeous bouquet for me, my bridesmaids... Along with corsages, boutinerres, and two flower arrangements. They looked great and didn`t look fake at all... Unless you were right on top of them scrutinizing and if someone does that they`re focused on the wrong part of the day.
The price for all of that ended up being about what it would`ve have been for just the bouquets at a florist.

As for centerpieces. We got a huge lot of votive candles and printed clear stickers that said "Thank you for sharing our special day. Matt and Heather" and put them on each.
They lit the tables up beautifully and everyone could take home a candle. You can find bulk candles on ebay usually or on orientalexpress.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Heather for the idea about going to Hobby Lobby, I really appreciate the info. Btw, can I ask about how much it ran you for all the flowers together?

I am going to have to say that silk roses are a great route to go! I used them for my wedding as did my best friend for hers. We purchased our flowers from the flower factory (huge selection) and bought the holders, and the styrofoam insert and arranged them ourselves. It is a great way to bring out your creative side.

We both did theme weddings. Mine was Cinderella and hers was the fall theme. Also for favors we used votive candles that I printed labels for with her picture in black and white and then their new married names on one side and the wedding date on the other. Then we also made candybar wrappers with the same picture on them and used a fall theme frame around the wrappers. They were beautiful, and set the theme wonderfully. For the centerpiece we bought plain ivy rings and added the same flowers that were in the bouquets to them and had hurricane globes and then a small glass votive holder with a votive in the middle. Mine I hand painted carriages, and placed them on boards that i painted and glittered, with shimmering white candle rings with ivy bowls and floating rose candles. If you need any help making any of these email me and I will help you out! It is fun and a good way to work with budgets!

Good luck!
