HELP???

Does anyone know of anyone in Southern Maryland that doesn`t charge an arm and leg for wedding photo`s?? I thought about calling the college and asking someone that`s been taking Photographer for a while and see if they wanted to shoot my wedding? What do you all think about that? And how much should I pay them?

Thanks,
April.

April,
I think that is a great idea. Since in reality you would be doing the student a favor by giving them the experience, a fair offer would be to pay for the film and initial development (order doubles so that you can give the student one set for their portfolio) and then you keep the negatives so you can have reprints and enlargements made of whatever pictures you want (you might also consider offering the student a few enlargements of their best pictures). You might consider giving them something extra ($50-$100 or whatever you think is appropriate) for their time but really the experience is invaluable to a newbie who will have a hard time getting started without prior experience so you don`t really have to give them the extra dough. I would contact the local college and ask to speak to someone in the photography or art department and ask if they have a bulletin board that they`d allow you to post a flier on. Most every department in all colleges has a bulletin board that jobs and opportunities are posted on for students in that department, just make sure you get permission, some places have strict rules about posting. Good luck! I am going to ask my uncle who is really good at taking pictures and has a really nice camera to take pictures as well as my future father in law--he has a really nice digital camera and is really good at using the editing program so he can take any picture and make it look fabulous, plus he`s really good at getting good shots to begin with. I`m also going to put a few disposable cameras out and have guests take pictures, this way i get a lot of shots of lots of different things, and all i really care is having one good picture of my fiance and i and i figure with all these people taking pictures atleast one good picture will surface :). I`m also going to ask my uncle to use a few roles of black and white film as well as color. Anyway, best of luck!
