Only Invited To The Reeption
My husband and I have a long time close friend who is marrying. We do not know the bride well, do to the fact we live out of town. My husband who is inthe liquor business, was asked to purchase and deliver all the liquor at a discounted price (we would be paid back). He did this. We hadn`t checked the invitation closely when it arrived (although we did RSVP), but a friend pointed out that some people were only invited to the reception. Low and behold, We WERE only invited to the reception! The wedding is not a family only event (my husbands brother and best friend are in the wedding). I am shocked and offended. We have fronted our own money for wine and are expected to help set up the reception. Am I being ridiculous? Also, I don`t think we should give a gift.

Maria,
Take the high road. There may be a reason everyone is not invited to the church...perhaps it is a small chapel and everyone wouldn`t fit. But it really isn`t worth losing a good friend, or sleep over it. They are paying you back...it was a very nice gesture for your husband to do that. You never HAVE to bring a gift to a Wedding but you know everyone does, but if you are comfortable not giving one it is totally acceptable. Good Luck.
